We Are New And I Need Advice Please Read Urgent Very Urgent

1 week ago Bleu loves to run go jump in his bed talk to me then run to me and he gets a treat. I guess he thought he wanted to surprise me and do a "NEW TRICK so instead of jumping the side of "HIS BED" he jumped the foot of his bed catching his under carriage and ribs and hind feet and front feet ...... He kept running and playing like nothing was wrong .. I ran to him got him and he was fine...

2 days later...... He lost 2 teeth .. He also began to cry a painful yelping cry so I thought maybe he was teething... I went and bought him a teething pacifier... (cutest thing you ever saw)

Yesterday.... Woke up he eats drinks potties and poops just fine but walks a little different sometimes backwards and cries when I go to pick him up.. It scares me to death cause I never know when he is going to cry like that....
I called my mom over and she thought it could be internal. GET HIM AN APPPT AND GET IT NOW! So off we go to the Doctor.

Yesterday 4:00 pm Go to the doc DOES NO YELPING DID A FEW TRICKS WAS HAPPY GO LUCKY WE WERE THERE FOR AN HOUR WITH THE DOC ATE HIS TREAT WALKED NORMAL PASSED ALL EXAMS DOC GAVE PERFECT BILL OF HEALTH... I told doc but doc you have no idea he is in pain I know my baby he said LET ME GIVE HIM A PAIN SHOT .. BLEU DID NOT CRY.. He did very well.... SO Off to Walmart to get a toy or treat or outfit or something cause he did so good and.... mom is a pharmacist there so we had to go give her a update..... STILL ACTING PERFECTLY NORMAL...
OH AND NO TEMPERATURE!!

5 :30 YESTERDAY GET HOME HE RUNS THE STAIRS RUNS DOWN THEM GETS IN HIS BED TALKS ROLLS OVER SITS LAYSDOWN PUTS HIS TOYS UP AND IS HAVING A GREAT TIME ATE HIS TREATS POTTIED POOPED AND LOVING LIFE

8:00 PM YESTERDAY
AFRAID OF HIS BED CRIES WHEN YOU GO TO PICK HIM UP WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN THE STAIRS AND IS CRYING AGAIN!!!!

I called the doc and the doc is telling me to wait 24 more hours and observe him... HE EATS POOPS DRINKS BARKS GOOD EVERYTHING ELSE IS GOOD.
HE SAYS THE SHOT SHOULD HAVE LASTED 24 hours.. I said I think it wore off in 4 HOURS..

IM SO WORRIED MOM AND I THINK HE HAS A CHIPPED RIB MAYBE!! THE DOC SAYS IT WILL HEAL ON ITS OWN I ASKED IFTHERE WAS ANYTHING I COULD GIVE HIM OVER THE COUNTER FOR PAIN AND I DID NOT GET A ANSWER...

HAS ANYONE EVER GONE THROUGH THIS AND WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT THIS IS MY BABY AND IM A NERVOUS WRECK!

Vicki

Maybe you could ask the Vet. to exray the rib area. If he does have a fracture then the Vet. could tape up his rib cage. Also keep an eye on his urin and poo to see if he passes any blood. The baby definately has something that's hurting him.

BLEU BOY BARBER 01-09-2008 11:16 AM

Does This Require Surgery

Does This Require Surgery We Have Appt 400 Pm Today Im So Scared

Mom2BabyNatalie 01-09-2008 11:17 AM

x-rays, x-rays, X-RAYS..... if your current vet won't do it, find someplace else... this little one needs a CORRECT DIAGNOSIS for treatment!! Don't wait, please.... get him in...

They wouldn't do surgery for a chipped, or even broken rib.... but he definitely needs to be seen for x-rays... no telling what it is that's causing the pain...

Sending prayers, please keep us posted!!

yorkiesmiles 01-09-2008 11:21 AM

How old is Bleu? Yes, x-rays are the answer - he probably doesn't need surgery - but you won't know anything until you get the x-rays.

Let us know what happens - I would like to give you a proper welcome, but I know you have urgent concerns.

BLEU BOY BARBER 01-09-2008 11:25 AM

Maybe you need to find a new vet. That's hard on short notice but call around and look for one that feels right to you. Tell them what happened and see what they say over the phone-of course they can't give a definite answer but they could give you a few different possibilities. If it is something internal the sooner you can find it the better. Have you been going to this vet for awhile?? How has he been in the past for other problems?

BLEU BOY BARBER 01-09-2008 11:30 AM

CO_yorkie_momma 01-09-2008 11:39 AM

He may have tweaked his back a little and it is hurting him at times. Mine did that and the vet gave him some steroids and he was fine after that. Good luck.

Where do you live? It's possible that I or someoneelse her from Texas might know of excellent vets that have experience with Yorkies. It does make a big difference. Good luck to you and your baby.

Stella's mom 01-09-2008 06:39 PM

I just picked up on this thread, I'm so glad Bleu received a diagnosis and treatment. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Mitzis Mom 01-09-2008 06:51 PM

Oh Thank God! How scary! We were praying for him and we continue doing so!!!

WidsMom 01-09-2008 06:59 PM

~Please be cautious~

I posted this on your other thread:

Be very, very careful with him. Look up something called Atlanto-Axial subluxation. My very first Chihuahua had it, and needed neurosurgery. It sounds very similar, and even jarring the dog with the neck out of place can sever the spinal cord.

I'm not meaning to scare you, but please just look into it.

Hugs,
Joy

So glad he's feeling better. I thought the same thing as some elses posted above:

Atlanto-Axial subluxation

** THIS IS VERY SERIOUS **

Please do a little research online about AAI /AAS - Also ask your Vet about this. PLEASE - there are too many babies that go undetected and then a slight movement and they break their necks, in some cases this leaves them paralyzed. Please check into this, ok? And 'if' for some reason he has AAI /AAS - then you can have surgery done to stablize the neck and you won't have to worry about him breaking it and being paralyzed. There are a few members here that have gone through this, and they would never wish it upon anyone as it is heartbreaking and very stressful.

Please keep us posted.

labrown 01-09-2008 07:32 PM

As for you little man.. Please keep a close eye on him.. My Babybear is one that has AAI/AAS he broke his neck when he was a year and ten months... He still can not walk,I work with him daily.. He did this over a year and a half ago... Yorkies or any pup for that matter with neck problems she be treated like little china dolls.. Please Babybear has a lot of info on his dogster page..http://www.dogster.com/dogs/136060 Read his diary (archives) you can see his story.. We lost him at first he died at my feet... My husband gave him mouth to mouth to save his life.. He went undetected with his AAI.. So please read his webpage and contact us if need be.. He now has a email addy also.. Babybearswheels@aol.com if you would like more information or like to talk... Or you can Private message me...
But please do not let him jump or do anything crazy.. Even after he gets his cast off.. I don't want to see anyone go through what I have or do every day..
Don't want to scare you but this is very serious...
