We are praying for Mickey and your family! Glad to hear he has some relief at this time. |
I am so sorry to hear about your Mickey. I know firsthand how difficult and expensive it is to have a dog with chronic health problems. What type of stones does he get? Calcium Oxalate or struvite stones? I know struvite stones can often be managed and/or dissolved with special diets. I found this article interesting. It said males are 75% more likely to get calcium oxalte stones and Yorkies were one of the breeds they are common in. http://www.2ndchance.info/calculi.htm |
How's Mickey doing now? It's so hard when they are sick and we can't afford the super expensive surgery. These vets just make me mad that they charge so much when they don't HAVE to. I use organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar in the dogs water around here. I put two teaspoons in a large water bowl. I actually started using it for my Maltese and staining, but if it will benefit the other dogs, I'll keep it up. Keep us updated, ok? I, personally wouldn't go for the removal of the stones again cause it does sound like they will come back and you'll have to go through it all over again. |

Thanks for the prayers everyone. Mickey is doing ok, acting him self, not in any pain as of yet. eating and drinking good. We are still wishing and praying for a Christmas Miricle.so keep the prayers coming. Thank You all. Trying to watch Mickey and Minnie and takes Care of my one year old Grandauter all night, Im wore out. and this is what happened . Mickey and Minnie was sleeping and I was getting my Grandaughter ready for bed, we was playing and I had my face close to hers when she stuck her hand up and her finger went in my eye, not just in my eye but in and under the eyelid and over the top to the back of my eye. her nail scratched my eyeball and all of the inside top eyelid. Oh My Gosh I was in pain all night, It still sore and hurts today, But nothing like it did all night last night. Grandbabys home now and Mickey and Minnie are sleeping and Im resting. |
Bless your heart! I wish some of us were close to you and could help. I hope you can get some rest and your eye will be OK. Meanwhile, we can and will pray for you all, especially for little Mickey's Miracle! God bless you, sweet lady. |

Those are the ones that are hard to dissolve and usually have to removed surgically. :( My Lady is a diabetic and prone to uti's (not stones, thank heavens ) so I know way more about urine than I'd like to. :D The pH of urine should be neutral, 7.0. Stones are formed if it's too acidic or alkaline. You can buy urine pH strips and test it yourself. Calcium oxalate stones form when the urine is too acidic. You can add organic cider vinegar like Omega said (it must be from a health food store, not the grocery store) or baking soda to make the urine more alkaline. Mickey may need a prescription diet. Changing the urine pH isn't going to help with the stones he has now, but hopefully you can stop him from producing more. |

I buy the BRAGG raw -unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar from the health food store. I also bought the BRAGG Vinegar Book, lots of good information in it. I think if you do a search on the internet for their product you can read about it on line :) I pray that Mickey gets over these soon and everything is worth trying that has been mentioned......especially that bottled water :) Ohhhhh Debbie please watch your eye that you don't get infection, might be very wise to see eye dr. tomorrow to get it checked. Hugs, Patti and Jack |

Prayer's coming for little Mickey. Hope the pain stays away and the bottled water does help him. Is there a reason they can't lazer them into pieces like they do humans so they pass? |

Sorry I dont have time to post back a reply to all of you, By I thank you so all so very much for your good thoughts and prayers for Mickey. Patti we will start my babies on the bottled water today hun. Thank you. I started a thread but thought I would post this here too. Mickeys in surgery right now. Just wanted to let you all know. He woke me up this morning wanting to go out and potty, He did pee but you can tell he was starting to strain again and whine in pain. we took him to the ER vet and talked to them awhile. They are going to let us do some kind of payment deal. We decided to just go a have the reg Bladder stone surgery done again instead of the hole . He said some times theres lots of complications after having that kind of surgery done so we decided on the reg bladder surgery and will go from there. Mickey he was going to the vets. He got right in his little cage again, knowing he only goes in there when going to the vets. The Vet held him out to me again before leaving. for another kiss and to tell him I loved him. I then started crying and left The vet did say by feeling his bladder that it was not full this time, so he had been peeing enough. But the stones just blocked and hurt him. Please pray for Mickey that he comes out of this ok. Thanks |
I posted in your other thread too. But I wanted to mention - I would highly, highly recommend an animal nutritionist I used w/ Marcel. It was for other problems, but she is AMAZING and changed Marcel's health issues in no time. I spent hundreds at the vets - then I found Susan, paid for a telephone consult - and *voila* he was doing better 1.5 days later (after months of problems). At the very least, you could drop her an email and ask of her experience in preventing reoccurring stones. Here is her website: http://www.askariel.com/pages.asp?pid=uti |
Thanks guy's The vet called about 5:46 and said it went good, Mickeys awake and peed for them, Said They found 4-5 stones. not real big ones but big enough to block hime, said we could pick him up tomorrow after 1:00. |

I am SO happy to hear that all went well. I truly hope that everything goes fine for him now. He's a trooper all right!!! Bless his little heart! And I am glad you do not have to worry anymore. How's that eye of yours doing? |
Thank God! I will continue to pray for little Mickey. Please give him hugs & kisses from Toto and me! :) I was wondering how your eye is too!? |
Debbie, thank goodness Mickey had the procedure done and seems to be doing well. Now I hope you will find a way to prevent them from coming back, an ounce of prevention may well be worth the time and expense. I'll keep you and Mickey both in my thoughts and prayers...take care. |
Thanks everyone, My eye feels back to normal now, to tell the truth it hurt something awful, then with every thing else going on I kind of forgot about me worrying about Mickey and my mom. Moms losing her blood again and man 2007 has been hard on us, I hope and pray 2008 brings us all good health. But my eye it seems to be all healed now. Thanks for asking. I cant wait to get little Mickey home, I keep thinking of him laying up there at the ER being so scared with out us. Poor little guy. I wonder what caused those darn stones to come back so soon, Hes been eating the Presription UD food so good and always has cold fresh water down. we will be changing his water to bottled water. |
