Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at such a hard time. |
Prayers for Mr. Mogli, you and your family. |
thoughts and prayers are with you. |
We went to UF today. They did an ultrasound. Also sending off for lepto test. Won't know for 7 days on that one. They said his kidneys look healthy as far as size, shape, etc go. No lumps, cysts, cancer, scar tissue, etc. They wanted to keep him and keep on super high fluids going until his #'s stop improving, then send him home to see how he does. They gave us a sliver of hope, so we couldn't turn him down. The worst case is that he comes home and only lasts days. The best case the doc said is about a year. So it's still all up in the air. He's so very sick. He would really only have another day or two in him. This way they can try to get him to a stable place and hope that he can rebound at home. At this point they sounded confident that we will have him for a few good days at home ... so as much as we don't want to hurt him or put him through hell and back, we want to try this so we'll know we did everything we could for my little sweet man. He hasn't eaten good in almost a week now. The Dr said that they would supplement him if he continues not eating. He may be there for a week or more. It's 2 hours away. We were visiting him locally daily. Two hours away will be more tough. We're going to go this weekend though. The Dr said that Yorkies are resilient. They're strong, determined, and put up one hell of a fight. |

I"m so sorry this is happening.:( What kind of food was he eating when this started? |
Our prayers are with Mogoli :animal-pa |
He eats science diet adult small bites. He\'s been on science diet all his life ... of course a few times he\'s had other foods ... but not much. We do buy different types of treats since he eventually tires of them. Our vet said the food & treats aren\'t on the recall lists ... and we had our other dog tested and her levels are normal. We did that to rule out food and environment. He\'s always been a pretty good baby. Doesn\'t get into mischief ... so we were trying really hard to think if he could have encountered something. Haven\'t come up with anything ... |
Any update on Mr. Mogli?? Hope he\'s feeling better today!! |
Poor Mr. Mogli, he is in our thoughts and prayers. I\'m sure he\'ll recover and get back to his normal self really soon. Thank you for the updates, keep them coming. |
I hate to here your baby is havig such troubles i will def keep him in my thoughts and prayers |
We went down and visited him Satuday and today. He is not very happy. He hasn\'t eaten much for about 2 weeks now. He is very weak and has lost a lot of muscle. :( The Dr said that his BUN, Creatine and phosphorous levels are way down! This is direct result of the massive amounts of IV fluids. We were extremely excited to hear that news. They added some potassium and sodium to his IV solution because the fluids altered his electrolytes a little. Unfortunately, he is still very low on red blood cells and now his platelette count is low. They are talking about maybe needing a transfusion, but not just yet. He has also started some blood pressure medication, since that was elevated. It hasn\'t been as effective as they wanted ... so there\'s talk about upping the dosage or changing medicine. They are also talking about other ways to get him nutrients needed. It sounds like as we are moving forward that this may be more of an acute, possibly bacterial case. There is no way to know for certain. There is also talk about a feeding tube --- again, too early for certain ... but that would let them give him nutrients, and allow for aggressive fluid administering at home. We are just really sad holding on to a hope that he\'ll come home soon and rebound. He gets excited to see us, wants to just sleep in our arms and rest. It\'s really tough. We know the Dr is doing everything he possibly can ... and is really keeping an eye on everything. |
