Lana had her 3 vac. yesterday and shes not doing to well with it. Shes had diahrrea all night and smelly pees. Shes whines whenever you touch her back and shes got the shivers unless you hold her in her blankie. On the plus side shes still active and still eating and drinking well. I called my vet and they said if I fell uncomfortable or she keeps up the diarrea to bring her in by 4 pm. Im hoping it will pass. Any ideas on how to make her feel better?

She's probably sore from the shots. I don't know what you can do for that, but if she doesn't seem to be getting better I'd bring her to the vet.

I think your vet is right on it. If she isn't better by 4 then take her in. What shot was it?

Lana hasn't had diareah(sp) since 8 am!!! Yah! Shes sleeping a bit and stll touchy but her stomache seems better. She had the 3rd shot in a 4 shot series. No Lepto and she still hsan't had Rabies. I hate having to hurt my babies. Got to do it agian on Jan. 7th. Argggg

Did she get Coronavirus?

Why was she given four rounds instead of three?

What comes a January 7th?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just tired of seeing vets overvaccinate.

Why are they giving her so many rounds of shots? My vet says she only needed one more after the one he gave her (besides rabies). You start wherever they are in age now, you don't have to go back and give her all the ones. It is not the number of boosters, it is where their immune system is at the time. Please don't over vaccinate. The reason they have so many in the early weeks is because the mother's colostrum has given them immunity and it can interfere with the shot. So like an older dog (older than 16 weeks) who hadn't had any shots would only need one round. That's what my vet told me. Lana got her shots just before she turned 16 weeks so that is why he said she needed one more round.

I am glad she is feeling better. She didn't have diarrhea after her last shots here, but she was very touchy if you touched the spot for a few days.

They want to do the distemper, con a somehting, parvo shot 3 times here because os extreme parvo problems here. I never considered iy odd since Im new at it. The 4th in her Rabies. They dont want to do more than 1 stick at a time on her.
The first shot she got from them (second in the sereis) she did complain a bit but didnt get the diarrea from it. I wonder if the diarrea came since we just started raw this past week. To much new stuff. Only lasted 14 hours or so but any change is scary.

Okay, three rounds of parvo/distemper is normal (I thought you meant they wanted to give four rounds) and one round of rabies is normal but I wouldn't do it till atleast 6 months unless you state law interferes. I wouldn't let them give corona. That may have caused the reaction and isn't necessary in my opinion.

Its listed as DAPP-C They wanted to do another but I fought them on it. My babies arent allowed out of the yard and rarely even go past the edge of the cement. I dont go for walks, or parks and IF they go to a store its a pet store and they arent allowed out of my arms. Its a bit restrictive but I worry about them. Theyve had Parvo just 3 houses down from my house and I have alot of dangerous big dogs nearby. Well I guess it might seem like alot to me since I think any is to much. I actually know of 2.
I just relized Im a week too early for the rabies shot. Im going to have to reschedule for after the 13th. I appreciate the concern and questions since I am a new yorkie owner. Sometimes I dont have the right info.

1/2 Tsp of Baby Bendadryl should stop her reaction to the shot....I usually do this after I give vaccinations.

I usually recommend to my new families; No rabies until 6 months of age.

Dr. Jean Dodd's vaccine protocol has been adopted by twenty-seven vet schools. It is an excellent one to follow:

Toy breeds are very prone to reactions from vaccines so it's recommended to stagger vaccinations. Always give rabies separately with at least two weeks in between the other vaccinations.

To the original poster...the outbreak of parvo in Texas as in other Gulf areas is being attributed to Hurricane Katrina. In California the recent high winds have brought on a recent outbreak. Another thing that Hurricane Katrina brought into California was Heartworm, California until recently was not plagued by the Heartworm.
