| Symptoms to watch for? My pup, Peanut, found wires hidden underneath our dishwasher door. She severed one. We saw her chewing on something so we removed a small 1 cm piece of wire from her mouth. We then watched her and noticed her return to the dishwasher and viola, she had been chewing the wires! We didn't even know there was wires down there! You'd think they would be a little more hidden, but they are there nonetheless. Like most electrical wires, there was many strands of copper inside the wire. I'm concerned that some of the copper strands may have been digested. They are sharp, but very tiny and pliable. She is acting normal now, and it may be that she didn't swallow any of them. Any advice? Any ideas for what kind of symptoms to watch for?

| I would worry about possible obstruction, internal bleeding which would show in the pooh, and stomach upset. I would also worry about metal poisoning with the copper. I don't know the symptoms. You should call a vet and find out what to watch for with the copper. Hopefully all will pass without problems.

| thank you for your responses... she is doing well at this time, eating normally and has had 3 bowel movements since the possible ingestion occurred. we have been keeping a close eye on her, and i spoke with several vets today (since we are looking for one) and they all said to watch for vomiting or diarrhea.... she has been normal so far. ::cross fingers:: i also spoke with her breeder mommy, grandma arlene, and she said that it's quite possible Peanut didn't ingest anything... and she's right. there is also a chance that she did, so we'll just watch her closely. i'll keep you updated... thanks again! ps. do you know of any "copper poisoning" symptoms? none of the vets brought this up.
