whats wrong with lacey?
 
taking lacey to the vet in an hour, what could i be if she has been really sleepy, starring off into space, and wobbly shaking like she is cold, and small slimy blood in stool?

Oh, no! Did she eat something funny outside? If she is shaky, have you tried giving her some nutrical or karo? It'd be good to know what happens after giving karo/nutrical - bc at least you could know if it might be due to low blood sugar.

Are her gums pink? Is she eating/drinking? Poor baby, how scary!

yes i have been giving that to her for 4 days now, doesnt seem to make a differance. the only thing out side was a dead mouse but that was just yesterday and this has been going on for 4 days. can anyone thing of any questions i should ask or things i should make sure they do?

My first thought is how old is your baby? Is the blood fresh or dark? Probably good she is getting into the vet now. If you have not left yet, please make sure they do a floatation fecal and a giardia snap test. I would guess she has a gastro problem, but deciding what bug has caused it would affect which meds she would go on. Please keep us posted!

just got bk from vet have to go bk in 2 hours for next blood test they think liver shunt :(

thankyou, i really dont know how much more i mentally can take this past 3 years god has really been putting me through alot of tests in our lives. i really really pray that it isnt liver shunt but if it is we will deal with it and do what ever is needed for her she has helped me through so much i can only pray i can get her through this. i will let you know if it is or isnt when we get back from the vets again again thank you for you prayers

mog i wish they would call me bk, i cant stop crying, still waiting for results on second set of blood tests. mentally after loosing the baby last year and now this i dont think i can take it. if i didnt have lacey to get me through last year i know i would have totally had a mental break down. i pray its nothing but the vet thinks it is.

Liver Shunt would not explain the blood you saw in the stool I don't believe. Did you go to an emergency vet or your regular vet? I have hopes that all is going to be a very easy fix. Please don't be upset until you know. I hate to see you crying :(

it wasnt her vet but i know she is one of the vets out of 6, she would be my second choice if laceys dr wasnt there. they gave me antibiotics that she has to take once a day for the blood in the stool, but after she started talking about liver shunt i forgot to ask what the slime and blood would be from. i will ask when they call back with the final results for the blood tests they ran. i know she was hypoglysemic and white blood cell count was up and one other thing but i was in shock kind of so i dont remember. oh they also gave her an iv

Gastrointestinal upset (diarrhea) can occur with liver shunt.

I would be very surprised if you got the results tonight since they usually send the blood to a lab and it takes 24-48 hours. Maybe they test it in house.:confused:

Please try to relax. I know, easier said than done.:(

they do test in house, but i know she just came off a 8 hour surg when we were there and was behind, she said they would try to get to it tonight and call me.

Heart worms would cause bloody stools and laying around, also parvo. But with parvo the whites of their eyes turn red and they foam at the mouth. Hope your girl turns out ok.

What were her test scores? Cali'swere under 100 post and she was diagnosed with a very mild internal liver shunt MVD and requires no treatment. SO hopefully she has a mild case or one that can be treated and she will live a long time. I will keep her in my prayers!!!

I hope your baby will be okay and you can find answers to what is wrong. The slime and blood in the stool could mean she has colitis or inflammatory bowel disease. My concern when reading your thread was the dead mouse. If that mouse died from mouse poison, and lacey chewed on the mouse at all, it could get in her system.

I sure hope she recovers quickly from whatever's ailing her!

i didnt ask what the score was but she said stool softners 3 times a day ,antibiotics and special food. i will call the dr that normally takes care of her tomorow and try to pay attention and ask what ever questions i should. this is really really hard on me because last year i lost a baby ( human) that i babysat for and am not all the way over that the only eason i'm not in the nut house from that is because of lacey.
