New and have a sick yorkie Hi I'm new...just found this forum!Glad I did!My four yr old little girl yorkie is having pain in her abdomen. She's not vomiting,no diarreha. She isn't herself AT ALL though. She has no interest in playing.Up until today, she has had a bowel movement, and it was normal(no blood, etc.)She looks so pitiful. When I pick her up,she whines. When I press lightly on her belly, she flinches and cries.I called the vet.She has an appointment in 2 hrs,but I wanted to see if anyone has any info for me. |
:hearts-xx :hearts-xx :hearts-xx :hearts-en Best not to let her have anything but water till she sees the vet.If it worsens I would take her in immediately.Wishing you the best! |
thanks No worries about giving her anything...she has no interest in anything, not even water. Thanks for reply. |
I am so sorry your furbaby is having such problems, hopefully the vet can quickly get to the bottom of this. Is there a possibility she ate something that is causing her discomfort - a toy or ball or some human object? Please let us know what the vet says and come back to YT this is a great forum with a lot of fun, knowledgeable people!! Welcome! |
I think the vet is your best solution. Could have she ate something on the floor like plastic or any objects? Good Luck! |
I dont have a clue...I hope its nothing serious..please let us know what your vet says when you get back.. |
Poor baby... Please keep up posted on what the vet says... |
Awww... I hope your furbaby feels much better soon! |
Hope the next two hours fly by so you can get to the vet's. Only he will be able about to tell you. These little ones get into everything and anything. Hope she did not swollow something that won't pass. Please come back and post so we know how things went. Good luck and finger's crossed it's nothing serious. |

My dog did this and it turned out he had eaten something that disagreed with him. He was walking on his tip toes on the back legs and was very protective of his tummy. The vet checked him out, prescribed a pain killer and Sulcrate siuspension for three days. Once he started pooping normally he was fine. Good luck with your baby. Charlene |
poor baby, hate seeing a little one in pain, i hope you get some good news from your vet ! Welcome to YT ! |
Is your baby doing any better?? |
poor baby. I will be looking for an update. BTW WELCOME to YT! |
Back from vets Thanks so much to everyone showing concern for Pook.:aimeeyork We really appreciate it!The vet said she did have a slight fever-104,but couldn't see any cause for her being lethargic and having pain in her tummy. He gave her a shot of antibiotics, and some for me to give twice a day for 5 days.He also told me to pick up some Pedialyte.I just gave her some with a syringe. He said if she's not doing better in 2-3 days to bring her back. She doesn't seem to be hurting so much anymore.Hope this will get her back to her old self.I'll keep praying for her to get well.I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again for caring about her!:) |
So glad she's doing better. I will say a little prayer for her. Hope you stay on YT -- as you can see there are a lot of caring people here. We share a lot of tears, and some mighty prayer requests, but also many laughs! |
I hope that the medication helps with whatever is wrong with him. I hate it when babies are in pain. Welcome to YT. |
Iam sorry your little pook is sick:( wanted to welcome you to yt, praying for her to get better soon. |
I hope your baby is ALL better very quickly:love: It is so scary when they're sick! Welcome :D |
Update on Pookie Pook's still not herself. She is eating a little(when I hand feed her) and I keep giving her medicine and pedialyte, but she still has no interest in anything. She comes over to me once in a while to be loved on,but she just has me worried about her something awful.I hate knowing so many others on here are having horrible times with their babies, too. If she isn't better by tomorrow afternoon,I'm going to take her to the vet again.Atleast call and see what he says. There's no way I can sit through the weekend watching her like this. |
LunasMomma I'm so sorry you lost your hairy baby.:lovewings I'm sure a piece of you is gone, too. |

Not an allergy for Pook Well, as far as we know she's never had problems with allergies. The vet really couldn't find the cause of her acting odd. She just acts down, uninterested, and had a slight fever. He checked her stool for parasites,it was ok,and she just happened to pee on his floor,so he checked it,too, and said her glucose and everything else looked normal. No vomiting,no diarrhea, just in general not herself at all.She doesn't get human food, unless it's by complete accident, and she has been fed the same food since she was 6-7 wks old.Nov.4th,she'll be 5 yrs. old.It just has me so confused and worried:confused:I really dont know what else I can do for her.I swear,if someone would have told me I'd care so much for a dog before I got her,I'd had called them crazy! You folks on here have really been great.I'll get a pic up soon. |
oh, I'm so sorry -- I got your little baby confused with someone else who just joined and that dog was diagnosed with allergies today -- my fault - didn't mean to confuse things. I'll say a little prayer for Pook, she sounds like a sweetie. Do you still think she is in pain? |
Prayers coming her way. |
I hope little Pook is feeling better really soon! Prayers coming your way! |
Keep us posted... I know its not easy to see them sick, I almost lost mine a monthe ago with a pancreatitis! Give her lots of Tender, Love and care... it really helps :) |
I think Pook's doing better Well,I've been keeping the meds and pedialyte flowing in Pook. She seems to be more herself today.I got her to actually walk around a little bit inside and outside for a few minutes. She seems to respond more when we talk to her,so I'm keeping a close watch on her. Thanks for the well wishes.yorkiesmiles-that's ok.I understand and I appreciate you being concerned with my baby.;) |
I am so glad that there is some improvement today. I will pray for you too, I know it's hard to have a sick one, they really are like babies because they can't completely communicate with us. It's good to know that the treatment is working |
