Heated threads! Are you afraid to post in some threads for fear of being ridiculed for your opinion? how do you feel about this? |

I am a person that if I feel a person is getting put down or unfairly judged. I will step in and defend them. I really think we should all make it a rule to read our responses 3 times before posting. One of those three should be looked at as if it were being directed at yourself. Then maybe we all would post nicer:) You can Say what is on your mind with out being Rude or condescending:) |
I usually post on whatever topics I feel like posting on. :) haha. I try not to be rude or mean when I post, but I'm not the kind of person who keeps my opinions to myself. |
I've been on YT for a little over two years. I will read, and only post on things that I have questions about, or post my experience on an asked question. Thus far I have stayed away from heated posts (just the way I like it;) ), not out of fear, but because I don't like ugly. I think people hide behind their screen names at times feel like it's ok to say whatever is on their mind. |

I usually just grab the popcorn..if someone said something really extreme that was uncalled for, something that someone else (or myself) would take personal, then maybe yeah, but for the most part I try to stay out. Also, usually by the time I see something someone else has already said what I wanted to say! |
I've been on online forums since 1992 (started on Prodigy and GEnie). I have seen the best and the worst of flame wars (and I have been on the giving and receiving end of some of those flames back in the day!) As I have grown older, I have come to grow a very thick skin. I have also learned how far I want to go in any discussion. If I feel very strongly for it, I'll say what I want, and I don't care what anyone thinks of it. I don't think that I have been rude or abusive to anyone though. :) |

If I feel like I can contribute some sort of information, I won't shyy away from voicing an opinion. I just find that most of the time someone has said exactly what I was feeling (and they say it more eloquently too!! ;) ) I think most times people say things in a respectful way. That is one reason I love this site so much! :) |
I didn't vote 'casue the option I needed wasn't there. I am not afraid to post anywhere or in any thread. I choose to refrain from posting in threads where everyone is trying to convince everyone else that they are right and everyone else is wrong. I don't understand why posters can't just their personal experiences and opinions and then allow everyone else to post theirs. Once everyone starts quoting what others say with the intent to "prove them wrong or make a point" the threads stop being educational and become confrontational. |
Honestly, when I was new I used to be afraid to post on any heated topics. I didn't want to get into arguments with people and have them dislike me. But I've come to the realization here on YT that sometimes it doesn't matter what you say or how you say it, people are gonna "take it" the way they want. I don't post on every heated post, b/c frankly I don't read here on YT as much as I used to when I was a newbie. And there still are some that I may come across and never post on. Why? Because I don't need to "get into it" for the sake of "getting into it." I will ONLY write on a heated thread when I have strong feelings about the topic at hand and/or feel as if the OP is getting beat down for no reason. I also try my best not to insult anyone, as I choose my words wisely. I also use emoticons when necessary. ;) If everyone would butt out and not jump in for the hell of it, we wouldn't have unnecessary nasty comments and rudeness all over the place. JMHO |
Probably the last 6 months, I've missed out on just about all the heated threads. Computer time is limited now days and I usually read them after they've been locked...and some get missed all together. Back in the day, I use to post on every single heated thread there is. Now days, I just read mostly and have only commented a handful of times. |
I read much more than I post. (Obivious... . look at the date I joined YT versus the number of posts :) ) There are some subjects that I find near and dear to my heart.... and will post on them regardless of a "heated" discussion. And there are some posts that I have an opinion on, but try keep it to myself because I don't think my opinion will be liked and really don't want hassle. :rolleyes: |
I would say I'm a combination of post #3 by Pea495 "I fear nothing" and post #7 Mardelin " most of my concern is for the pup" and post #9 YorkieMom55 "Im too old to fear" and Jeanie you're too young.:) I really think if someone has a point, is not a troll and is being taken advantage of I like to chime in to help the person. Gosh txshopper don't you just want to break the lock LOL Also I don't care how heated the thread if I feel strongly about a subject, I post. |
I'm not afraid to express my opinion, although I do try to do it in a way that hopefully doesn't offend anybody. I stop reading some of them though, when they descend into a massive argument |
I try to stay away from the heated topics. I hate conflict but I will step in if I feel someone is being treated unfairly. |

I will post on any heated thread only if I want to give my opinion and if I feel strongly enough about the topic being discussed. I DON'T however post in these heated threads to be rude or hurt others or cut them down. I always *TRY* to be as nice as possible and as courteous as I can with my replies/posts/comments as I think everyone should :) |
I only post comments that are worded nice, I do not want to hurt other's feelings. I would feel bad if someone was posting things that hurt my feelings, so I would not do that to another person. You can word things nicely and still get your point across, no need to be rude to another person. Example of this would be...Say that you thought that a dog was to small to breed at 4.0 pounds and the poster was asking what you thought, you can direct the person to talk with a vet and get their opinion or if you know a link to a thread that someones had on their little one having problems with whelping, you can direct the person their instead of belittling the person. |
I post if I feel like I have something to contribute. Usually on heated threads the same things get repeated a million times and I don't have the burning need to add the million a one statement.:p |
