Max for short; Maximilian after the roman emperor. I wanted a BIG name for a small dog :) |
What a fun thread! My Armani was named after the very wonderful Giorgio Armani. It was a toss up between Armani and Dolce. The name was picked out before I met her, at first glance she was Armani...besides A is the first letter of the alphabet. When she gets her little sister her name will be Dolce. |
When I was younger, I was obsessed with New Kids on the Block (who wasn't in those days?)..... My favorite song of theirs was a song called "Popsicle". So I named my baby Poppy. It serves a triple meaning, in that there was a character in Rainbow Brite called Poppy, as well as the reference to "Poppies" in one of my favorites: The Wizard of Oz. I always wanted to run through a field like that. It all melded together to create her name. Can you tell I was a child of the 80s?! :) |
Ralphie is named after Ralph Lauren. Everyone always thinks it is Ralphie in the Christmas story but it is actually Ralph Lauren. |
I got the idea for Sasha's name from Beyonce's album, Sasha Fierce. I think the name is so girly, and not many dogs have this name. |
Pann was named after: Pan (Greek Πάν, genitive Πανός), in Greek religion and mythology, is the companion of the nymphs,[1] god of shepherds and flocks, of mountain wilds, hunting and rustic music. His name originates within the Greek language, from the word paein (Πάειν), meaning "to pasture".[2] He has the hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, in the same manner as a faun. With his homeland in rustic Arcadia, he is recognized as the god of fields, groves, and wooded glens; because of this, Pan is connected to fertility and the season of spring. The ancient Greeks also considered Pan to be the god of theatrical criticism. We just added an extra 'n' so it wasn't spelled like a frying pan :D |
After a Disney character - Copper from The Fox and the Hound |

My daughter's Yorkie is named Lily - after "Diamond Lil'". Sadly, my little Kissy is only named after her greatest skill...kissing... which maybe someday will make her famous. |
Our Neo was named by DH after the Keanu Reeves character from "The Matrix". In 3-4 weeks we will add to our family with little "Connor MacLeod". I wish we had his brother, and I would have named him Duncan, of course!:D Can't wait 'til he's home! |
