A Poll: What are feeding them after the recall? This recall has affected a lot of people. Most of us feed premium and natural foods to our yorkie, so at first we weren't affected. But now it seems that the recall is reaching the foods some of us are using. Although some brands have escaped the recall, we don't know if this is going to stay this way. Have you change the food already? are you planning to? How has way of feeding them changed? Me? I haven't changed it yet, I'm using Natural Balance Potato and Duck. It hasn't been recalled yet, although the fish formula has. At first I though this was not going to affect me, but now I'm doubting... |
Natural Balance Orgainic. I am praying that the recall for Natural Balance goes no farther than where it has already gone. Buddy loves this food and it's full of all good things. So far it's safe:thumbup: |
I didn't see a poll to vote. I am feeding a few Canidae kibbles and homade........will transition into the honest kitchen.........I quit kibble. For my paranoia issues and peace of mind.......I quite canned and kibble  |
I am still using Royal Canin Puppy for dry kibble but I am now making my own homemade food instead of using canned. She is eating better and I feel better about it. Kasey |
Here is the poll, it took me a few minutes to figure out the options! :) |
We feed the Natural Balance Rolls, and solid Gold Wee Bits. I am now somewhat worried about the Natural Balance Rolls, but it is the ONE thing I can COUNT on them eating. I have started cooking hamburger and chicken, mixed with brown rice and a few veggies, and they like it pretty well, but I worry that would be lacking some vitamins or nutrients they need. I do mix in the Missing Link with it too. It is all just very worrisome.... |
lexi get merricks or chickensoup for now... no problems yet with it |
Emma has been on Merricks since before the recall happened, but I've started cooking more lately anyway :) |
My lab is getting Canidae and the yorkies are getting Natural Balance Duck & Potato bc of Hobbs' skin allergies. I am REALLY hoping and praying that the Natural Balance recall goes no further than the Venison & Rice variety. Yikes! At any rate, I'm planning on sticking with what I'm doing unless one of these 2 foods are recalled. |
I fed Eukanuba puppy before the recall, but was already planning on switching to a better food once Ralfie finished the bag. When I heard about the recall, I went ahead and switched early. Did alot of research on Canidae, seemed the best to me, and hasn't been affected by the recall. Ralfie likes it, I like it   and we're stickin to it! (for now  ) |
I switched from Nutro to Chicken Soup. I also home cook for them but not everyday. |
Conner gets Merricks - so far so good!! |
I feed Evangers wet and Artemis dry (for about a year now). And I pray to God they don't ever get recalled!!! :( |
Mine get Canidae and Artemis with the occassional Evangers wet mixed in. They were getting this before the recall and still are. I will continue with this mix unless of them gets recalled. |
I feed Canidae & Chicken Soup:) I'd like to see a poll of what dry foods are being fed now. |
I switched foods to one that doesn't contain wheat in it, even though mine wasn't recalled. |
I started a while back feeding the Chicken Soup for the puppy or dog Lovers Soul as it is all natural and I was tired of all the by products. Great food as all mine love it. |
When all these recalls started I did a ton of research and decided recalls or no recalls I couldn't continue to feed my dogs any of the dry foods or canned foods. I am sick by what goes into them on almost every level. We were using Natural Balance Ultra Premium but stopped shortly after the recalls started. Now that the recalls have starrted to effect Natuaral Balance I am so glad we stopped right away. I was not happy to see that Natural Balance comes from the Diamond plants either. We are now using Honest Kitchen which is all human food grade and has a very short ingredient list. (and all ingredients that I can pronounce and nothing I am unfarmiliar with) I like that i know exactly what's in there and that it doesn't contain anything like the 5D meats. YUCK! We are doing some home cooking along with thier Honest Kitchen but mostly just to add variety. Kim |
Did you know that Royal Canin is also being recalled in South Africa? How did this thing get so huge??? |
I stopped using the Nat. Bal. venison immediately & returned them to the store but still have them on the duck/potato forumla from Nat. Bal. as well as the Solid Gold Wee Bits. I am looking into the Honest Kitchen product! |
I switched to Holistic Eagle Brand. It has no wheat in it and I pray that it's safe. Only problem is, the girls really don't care for it, they eat it, but only when they get hungry. I have been mixing a little chicken in with it to get them to eat it. |
I use Canidae (dry and canned). So far all is good for this brand. I won't stop using it unless I hear of a problem. I used to cook for all our dogs. But they tended to pick through and only eat the chicken out of it. I decided they were not getting a balanced diet -- so back to a combo of canned and dry premium food. I have tried several other brands -- but Canidae is best for us as it is an all life stage food. I have 4 dogs from pups to seniors and this way they can all eat the same thing. Plus -- they seem to eat it well. It has no wheat, corn, or byproducts. |
I feed my two Artemis. I'm constantly checking the website for recall updates. Though, I do go back and forth on the idea of just cooking for them. I really am unsure as to what to do... |
Hi guys...I have found a new brand of dogfood and started feeding that to my girls, Kayla and Kessa....It's called "Blue" By Blue Buffalo brand. It's all natural. We were using Eukanuba until the girls got sick and had to go to the vet! That stuff got thrown out quick!!! No more for them. Now it's nothing but the natural stuff with things we ourselves would eat in there! I can't afford to take any chances!!! |
I need help does anyone have a simple recipe for home cooked meals for my little baby girl.. lilly she is 8 months .. i just feel so bad that she wants human food but i cant give her any?? :) thank you in advance |
I used to feed Canidae dry, occasionally the wet, homecook and Human Grade Canine Cuisine. Now that his Canidae is almost finished, I am not sure if I should buy another after hearing about Natural Balance being recalled. Meanwhile, I am cooking for him. At least I know what I buy and cook is what he is getting rather than you don't really know what is in a kibble. Can the dog food manufacturers really be trusted after all? Canidae is a good brand though. I guess I'd just cook for him until the whole issue is over and something has been done to change the current situation. |

The fish formula has not been recalled, only the venison. I am sure this is a mistake but should be corrected:) And on that note, I started home cooking LOL |
We go all Canidae... wet and dry. Pixie is still considered a puppy, Bogey's an adult. It's wonderful, they both love it, and Pixie even eats it without a hassle. She's a VERY finicky eater. A couple weeks ago, our feed store ran out of the only flavor of Canidae canned that Pixie will eat (Bogey's not so picky), so on a whim, I looked at Natural Balance and bought them the fish and venison flavors. Now that's been recalled. I called my husband and he threw out all the open cans and the rest will be returned. In the meantime, we went to another town last night in search of the Canidae to get them back on something reliable. And when we found it, we bought an entire case of it. No more worrying if anyone will have our food! |
Blue Buffalo CAT food was recalled...Just so you all know...It doesn't affect the dog food, but you never know. |
I feed my two Canidae dry and Merrick's dry. As long as they are both safe, I will continue to use them. Home cooking is great, but Baxter has a tendency to gain weight and it would be harder to control calories with home cooked. |
