My MIL's name is LeiLani which I think is a very beautiful name. Can't wait to see pictures of your baby girl! |
Our first yorkie Lucky came from a small pet store before we knew any better, but he is VERY well mannered for the most part, more so than our others lots of the time. Toby came from Sugar's Mom here on YT, and our other two Lexie & Halle both came from the same responsible home breeder. Love them all for all of their different personalities. |
Newman our first Yorkie came from a byb/small puppymill. He would have been 10 yrs. old but passed away this past summer. We didn't know any better back then but now educated he is the reason I am so involved with rescue and trying to shut places like this and pet stores/brokers down. Bella, Noel and Lilly were rescues. Bella we got at 5 weeks old when she was near death. She's now almost 5 yrs. old and is a beautiful healthy girl. Noel came to us at about a year old. She came from where Newman was from. She was a mess. Abused and suffering from parasites. She's now 4 yrs. old and although still very timid has come a long way. Lilly came from Burlington Animal Alliance. We found her a month after we lost Newman. She was 13 weeks old. Her $400 adoption fee covered her vetting, shots and spay. She's now almost a year old and precious. Tia is sort of a rescue. We got her out of the newspaper and she was malnurished when we got her and extremly scared. Jersey was bought from a neighborhood breeder. We had found out that our Newman had cancer and didn't have long with us. It was Mother's Day and my husband and two sons went to the house and came home with Jersey for me. |
scrappydoo came from a Responsible in home breeder. |

but they are very fuzzy :( to copy and put on my site. I'm trying! It's so funny that you were my first replier here on YT! The Bitch that just delivered my baby is named, Bayley ;) and your MIL's names is LeiLani how funny :D (not sure what a MIL's is?) but cute names... just different spelling on both. I'm not sure how I want to spell LaLoni yet. I thought of spelling it L-a-L-o-n-i-e only so I don't leave an "i" on the end. Just in case I need to write down "La Lonie's"... dumb thinking I now! But... I actually thought about it. Way to much time on my hands. |
Slade came from a lady I found on petfinder who said she had gotten the mom from a lady who was about to go into a nursing home and when she took the mom to the vet she found out the mom was pregnant. I researched her thoroughly and it sounded like she was tellng the truth and he was truely a rescue. However, lately I've found out a few things that make me wonder. I hope to god I didn't support a lying BYBer. |
Angel and Zoey We bought Angel and Zoey off of the same breeder. She is very good, clean and has all her puppies vet checked several times before they go to new homes. I have taken them to my vet and he said they were very well taken care of. |
Edie was born to a first-time Yorkie mother who was an only pet. The owner had owned Yorkies for decades as pets. I think she had only bred her female Yorkies a few times. Edie and her sister were raised in the house--in Maine you don't leave any dogs outdoors. When I went to see her, she had the run of the house (except for the carpeted areas). I guess I would consider her a "responsible in home breeder" but I have also referred to her as a backyard breeder because it was not a kennel-type business. |

My yorkies came from Heaven:D. But in between there and me, Max came from what I guess would be responsible in-home breeders...a couple who had the mom and bred her purposely to the dad (who they didn't own), and had one litter of puppies. And that's the only litter they'll be having. Madison was found out in the desert. The shelters think he was probably part of a puppy mill-type operation. I love them both so much! |
Thanks nvnvGirl... BYBer = Back Yard Breeder. The message makes sense now! I'm having to start a list of abbreviation's and what they mean. I have them on sticky notes on my laptop screen for quick reference. The only ones I knew before YT were LOL & BTW... I don't send text messages so I'm a little bit  clueless?? Oh well! |

I rescued Nathan when he was 3 days old , Selena and frimouse were from supposed to be breeders who kept them in small cages , Ariel was abandoned in an appartment . I took them with me and will give them the life they desserve. |
:)Hi Everyone..we adopted Mica from a show breeder in New Serepta Alberta, and Kali from a show breeder in Calgary Alberta. They are about the same size 3 1/2 - 4 lbs, are both girls and have wonderful temperaments. We are very happy with having adopted both girls. They are the love of our lives!! Belly rubs to all of your fur babies....Cory |
All of my guys are from rescue Yorkies Inc. |
I bought my baby boy, Monster, at a pet store. The seller swore up and down that he didn't come from a puppy mill. When he was 10 months old, I noticed something wrong with his back legs. Turns out he had severe degenerative arthritis in both hips, both kneecaps luxated, and an open fontanel. He was in a lot of pain but still managed to be loving and fun. He went in for surgery and died when his heart fibrillated. I did a lot of research and found out that the seller lied. I also learned a lot about the death camps where these poor pups and their parents have to live. I'm haunted by the thought of Monster's parents and all the other dogs suffering in the mills. I intend to fight to put the mills and the pet stores out of business, but for now all I can do is cry.[/I] Your story touched my heart. I am so sorry for your little baby Monster. You are so right that those puppy mills are horrible, and should be all charged and put out of business for their horrible cruelty to all dogs. I admire what you are attempting to accomplish, you should be very proud of yourself. Much love, Cory |
I have been breeding yorkies since 1988 and consider myself lucky to have been owned by my babies.I guess I was blessed to have gotten my first yorkie from a very good breeder, Gloria Lipman, she is a awsome lady.:mademyday . I had 3 of her babies to start out with, and have had my own linage since. I've learned a lot in these years and still learning after 20 years. :Pawprint: All of our children are very well taken care of and very spoiled.:lovewings |
I admit I purchased my little love bug from a Pet Store. I had never heard of Puppy Mills or the possibility of Pet Stores getting their pups from puppy mills until I joined YT. I am so much better educated now and will have more knowledge for future pups should I ever get another. I don't regret getting Derby from the Pet Store, he is such a love and I couldn't imagine my life without him in it.:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa |
I got Leo from an older woman who could never have children. She adores animals and gives her puppies the most loving care. She has her business out of her home, and each of the puppies are her babies. She cried when she said good bye to him. I have long since become wonderful friends with her. |
I got Taz from my SIL who decided they had too many dogs. He was from my other SIL woho ended up moving out of our place and in with them. The mom was already living there and she brought the father with her when she moved in. So basically we traded dog's. The mother is pregnant again and I was going to get one of the puppy's. I am glad I got "Taz" instead. He is the greatest little furbutt I could ask for. He was only 10mos old so he was easy to train and re-train the bad habits he had. |
I had to pick more than one. One girl was retired from a breeding program, one girl I got from a breeder and one girl I held back from my own breeding. |
My little yorkie came from a pet store. The poor thing had sat in there for two months because nobody wanted her. I couldn't ask for a better pup, though. She was even on sale because she was there so long. :( |

HERE HERE!! Same here. My baby still has kennel cough or flu with runny nose, cough and sneezing. 2 courses of antibiotics did not help. I'm hoping it'll clear on it's own. :( I consider him a rescue even though he was a puppymill puppy. I rescued him from a horrible existance. And that, in the end, makes me feel a bit better. I will never again buy from a pet store. I will only find reputable breeders in my area. I've learned a lot since we got him, especially from here on YT. :yorkietal |
I got my first baby (now 4) from a show/reputable local breeder, when I lived in Washington. He came with some bad habits though.....they said he was paper trained....yeah right! First thing he did was pee on my wall when we got home! ~Though I only have 2 babies now.....I have had three Yorkies :( We purchased a 'teacup' yorkie from a 'luxury puppy boutique' in Las Vegas. The poor little guy was actually from Oklahoma! He died within 2 weeks. The necropsy showed Renal failure. I spent $7,000 on vet bills in the week and a half we had him. Bringing back these memories......I am going straight to the breeder section and writing a warning!!! The little angel that came into my life to heal my heart is from a breeder in Louisiana. He came to me spoiled and chubby....the happiest little guy I had ever seen! He turns 1 this month on the 17th!!! Cooper dob 9/1/2003 Baron dob 7/17/2007 RIP Bennigan |
Maya came from a Show Breeder ....... her Daddy is a 3 Time Champion here in Germany ....... her real Name is 'Maya vom Talhof' ..... and we are very proud of it ..... |
got wookie from a show breeder; she was the most trusting and didnt give off hints of shadyness like other acclaimed breeders (who i think were backyard breeders)....but that was just my personal experience. :animal-pa |
Byb !!!!!! |
We got Tootsie from an excellent breeder in PA. She was very helpful with all my questions before we got her. This breeder has the parents on the premises as well. Her prices were much better than others I had talked to..and she wasn't snotty...very upfront and honest. I knew about Tootsie two months before she was born. I don't believe in pet stores for buying a puppy..those dogs are usually sick and from a puppy mill. |
