I guess i must be weird, I dont think of anof my anaimals as low or high. They might think of me as high maintance! Lord knows they have to! Rena

Maintance IMO means you have to put a lot of work into them.
My girl is low maintence. I don't have to fight her over potty training, no fighting over eating, she only barks when there is something to bark at, she too, only chews tp or kleenex.
I think high maintence would require lots of work, low maintence means lots of interacting just for the love of yorky!!

As far as Yorkies go, I guess Susan's about low or average in maintenance. She eats well, she's fairly well housebroken, she doesn't bark a lot, she rides in the car well, she doesn't tear things up or fuss about baths for nail clipping, etc. But as far as dogs in general go, she's HIGH. I'm not complaining --I wanted a dog I could fuss with. But she needs lots of baths, LOTS of brushing, I have walk her on a leash EVERY time she goes outside and then I have to come up with ways for her to get exercise since she can't run around off leash outside. She loves attention and wants to be on my lap a lot and will sometimes bark at me to try to get me to sit down so she has a lap to sit in and she barks at me to get me to play. She's cute and and she seems to know it. She's also way too bossy, so we're back to work on obedience training.

Kali and Mare are low maintenance - they are happy, easy to please dogs.
Me on the other hand, now there's something high maintenance :p
My husband gave me a handblown glass vase for christmas so I have something to put all the long stemmed roses in that he gives me :luvu:

All Yorkies are high maintenance cry babies who love to beg at the dinner table. What were you expecting when you got a Yorkie a quiet lap dog? :D

No your not the only one who thinks that.Prudence all 3 and a half pound of her is very low maintenance,she goes to bed when I go to bed,she gets up when I get up She hates going in the car so is happy to stay home and she has a huge yard to run around in and plays with the other dogs so doesnt need walks.

Yep, high maintenance, but think about it, that's because we love them. Otherwise we would have them chained under a tree in the dirt all day and say, "High maintenance, what?"

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. Val (passionfruition) made the avatar for me. It's funny, if you look closely you can see a couple of stray hairs on top of his head that bob too, lol.
