Are boys or girls more "clingy"? I got up a couple hours earlier than normal today and noticed something I'd never paid much attention to before: My two girls -- Jillie and Lucy -- got up with me and followed me around the house. My boy, Eddie, stayed in bed. When I thought about it, I realized that's normal. I don't know if the girls are more curious or insecure or if Eddie is just lazier. But I thought I'd do a poll to see if anyone else has noticed their girls are more clingy than their boys. |
In our house it was the opposite when our Boxer Coco was alive. She would stay in bed and sleep when we would get up. Georgie on the other hand either gets right up or once we go downstairs and get good and comfortable he starts whining to get off the bed (Heaven forbid he uses his stairs:rolleyes:) |
Bogie is my clinger...Both he and Jada have to be in the same room with me, but Bogie has to be right on me, always!! |

I have two boys. They both are little adventurer's ... The only time they REALLY CARE to be right next to me is when they think I'm leaving the house. Then one of them will wait by the door and the other will stay right on my heels. Other than that, they love to be with me but they also like to explore. |
I have 3 boys and 1 girl, all the boys sleep with me in bed, while Lola sleeps on her bed most of the time. And throughout the day, the boys will follow me around the house, while Lola stays in the bedroom. I always thought that since Lola is the oldest and the only girl, she's more independent and likes to claim her space to show dominance over the younger dogs. Never really thought of it as a gender issue, but it's an interesting observation nonetheless. |
Riley is much more clingy then Lily |
Neither Scotty, my first Yorkie, or Jilly, my second, were clingy and Scotty was male, Jilly female. Tibbe on the other hand is quite clingy at times and he's male. So, I can't tell from my experience if it is gender- or personality-related as both my first Yorkies were supremely self-confident, calm and Tibbe came to me with much baggage and many behavior problems, on the nervous side. |
In my experience my boys have always been clingier and my females and those I know seem more independent. In the same breathe I have notice our males prefer women and females prefer men. Scoobers is the only acception but he and Milo, my son have a very unique bond. |
OK! OK! I admit it. Boys are clingier! I never would have guessed at those results. My wife reminded me that Eddie goes to her for nurturing, and she considers him clingier thank Jillie. So I guess some of it depends on who they're clinging to. |
I picked other because I've a got 1 boy only and he is clingy but I have nothing to compare with;) |
I've never had a boy yorkie myself, only girls. Both the female yorkies I've had have been pretty independent & only cuddle on their terms. As this is just like my daughter, I've never thought anything of it. |
We have one of each and they both require lots of attention! They are so spoiled and think they need to be held, played with or just shadow us where ever we go! |
