How Potty Trained is Your Yorkie (s)?

75%. they are good most of the time. But when One goes the other two follow. AND forget it if its raining. ....They rather go inside then. ugg! i hate the rain!

100 percent, in the bad weather I go with her with an umbrella!

I say my Ani is at 75% ...she could be at 100% but she doesn't feel like it I guess. She knows she can get away with it.

The occasional accidents are usually my fault, but she is 99% trained as well. If Daddy-O will quit giving in to that sweet face at dinner, we would be a 100% accident-free home.

We are 100% trained here. Even with Loki's DI (diabetes insipidus) They go outside on leashes, ring a bell or go to the door or I ask them. We go months between accidents, which are my fault (like falling asleep at 7pm and not letting the little one out to poop before bed). But like, i can be upstairs and they will be napping downstairs and wake up from their nap and bark or ring or come and get me to let me know they need to go out outside. I can confidently wait for them to ask, or let them out when I go downstairs when it's convenient for me (so they don't ring 4 seconds after I've just walked back upstairs).

It took a lot of consistency and training and watching them every second when they were puppies. Sneaking off meant possibly peeing. Going outside is still made into a big deal and they get a treat, especially for bad weather (which we have a lot of in Chicago, and no pee pads allowed!). If it's really bad weather, I take them outside (dressed appropriately, umbrella, whatever) and wait for them to go. And I can't just leave them alone all day and expect them to hold it like a big dog. We send them out when they ask or every 3-4 hours or so, depending on their nap schedule. Since I *take* them out and watch them (on flexi's from the porch) I know their schedules and what they do when. It helps to make sure they are empty

You guys, of course they don't want to go outside in the rain. (Except when mine want to go PLAY in the rain.) But you just make them. You put your coat on, walk to the middle of the grass and STAND there until they go. Yes you get wet, but they learn, and you don't have to do it forever and ever. Mine know they don't get to come back inside until they do something in the yard. Sometimes I have to walk the 10 feet to the end of the porch/sidewalk and shoo them into the grass, if it's soggy, but really they are good about it because they have learned that peeing on the floor is not an acceptable alternative, unless they want a time out in the crate for the rest of the day (which they do not.)

Loki can pee with 2 left feet on the sidewalk, right front paw lifted and right back paw in the grass, so he only gets 1 soggy foot. Trust me, they learn. Sam is so low to the ground she gets wet no matter what she does, and we just dry her off. It's a game now.

I will let you know when I've trained them not to puke on the carpet. The consequences for puking in this house is getting a bath. Usually i can get Loki to the tile or bathtub, thanks to Sam's puke alarm (she barks FRANTICALLY when he starts to puke) She stopped doing her morning bile pukey thing when I switched from Innova to Fromm (Surf & Turf grain free - LOVE IT) so fingers crossed, we will have less puking around here.

I'd say 75 percent.Since Bringing Nikki in all of mine have been going where there not suppossed to. They will use the pads or go outside most of the time, then I will catch one just peeing wherever. With 4 doing this I am going crazy. I am having the carpets cleaned professionally next month and looking for a new carpet cleaner. I am going to get on top of this yet!

Oliver and Brooklyn are 100% trained to go outside! They used potty pads as babies and then learned the outside potty....now neither will use pads anymore...they prefer the outside potty now!!

morgan is 100% trained to go outside. she only has accidents when she's sick and can't hold it when no one is home

I said 75% for Tink because she does still have the occasional time at night, maybe once every other month, when she goes right next to her potty pad instead of on it. It's really closer to 90%

I don't count the accidents that happen because of a seizure. She can't help that. And even those are now few and far apart.

I am still amazed by my Bella. When I brought her home at about 9 weeks she was totally and completely pad trained. I didn't want to confuse her, so I didn't start training her to go potty outside until she was nearly 2, but thankfully she picked up on it very well.

For those who have yorkies who are 100% trained what are your secrets? Mine is 50/50 she hates the cold and I could stand outside for a long time and come in and she will go, grrr. advice will be amazing!

Csinibaba really wants to please, so if it is cold in the morning ( and it is now!!) I put her sweater on and off she goes. She really is a diamond!!

Both my boys are 100% potty trained. But they go out every two hours. They both go on pee pads on our deck, because there are too many ticks to let them on the grass. During the night, they go on pee pads in the house. Some nights they hold it all night, but usually one of them will wake me up to go.

Someone asked about advice.. when they were puppies, I took them out every hour and rewarded them when they went. I was a stay-at-home mom when I got these two, so it was easier. My previous yorkies, I was working and they were never completely potty trained.

i chose 100%, but my millie still occasionally has oopsies. twice when she got really excited, but mostly if she's filled up her pad while im at work. but she is really good with her pee pads
