I found this on essential oils if anyone is interested. Essential Oils as Flea repellants Plus I voted Advantix as this is what I was using before I was spooked about pesticides. I never had a flea/tick problem with that. |
Misslissa just posted this on the flea and tic meds. Small Dogs Prove Susceptible to Flea Poison: Scientific American And I posted this.............again: Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia - Ticks, fleas, bees, flies, snakes and other gremlins! And how to deal with them! |
I wouldn't recommend either one Why would anyone put these poisons on their pet. Why would you want to make your pet so toxic that contact with them can spread poison. The directions even say to wash your hands after handling the product and not to let it come i contact with your skin. Duh. Before i knew better, I put Frontline on my Yorkie (when she was a puppy). Each day following the treatment, she would be deathly sick. Retching and having diarhea. It wook me three months to figure out that it might be the Frontline. I discontinued the drug. I really think that stopping the Frontline saved her life. I believe the kidney damage she has today may have resulted from using that produc. |

I am going to try frontline. I used advantix, however, Levi still came down with Lymes on Advantix. Also, lately I find Levi extremely itchy after applying the advantix. So, I will be switching to Frontline..hopefully with better results. I still find it difficult for the product to "dry" in on Levi because his coat is so straight and thin. It's tough on a dog with no undercoat. |
While the holistic methods sound good I personally am afraid to "test" them on my yorkie because I have seen no real science behind them and if they were not to work I would have only myself to blame. I am going on my vet's advice here and I am willing to admit he knows more about these issues than a layman like myself. I use Frontline on Sophie because we have a large deer population where we live and I fear lyme disease. I used Frontline on our first yorkie "Baby" and she lived to be 16 years old with no side effects and Sophie has never had a flea, tick or any other issue either using Frontline.:animal-pa |
