I also use a (minimite) dremel - much easier & less (if any) pain for the pups :) |
I let the groomer do it..she has 26 years of experience and Pao trusts her with his nails more than when I do it! So I trust her too :D |
we trim the girls nails! ;) we use regular nail clippers on Gemma.. and the nail trimmers on Avie.. we also have the Pedi Paws, which we use on Avery! and i also file the girls nails with a emery board! ;) |
We have the Peticure and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Jamie wouldn't ever let me trim his nails before. The vet did it most of the times it was done before I bought the Peticure. Now after he gets blowdryed on bath day, I lay him on his back and do his nails. P.S. I want to be a yorkie in my next life so that someone will treat me to a spa day every Saturday! |
Three of the 4 lay on their backs on the sofa to get their toes done. Jack's still acts like I'm trying to steal a piece of his soul.....but he's getting better. |
Good question. I've always had the groomer do it, but I thought it was something I could do because we've conditioned him to us touching his paws. Wrongo. I tried clipping his nails last week, and it was a struggle. So I don't know whether to insist that he allow me to do it or just let the groomer be the bad guy. |
I hate cutting my dogs' nails. Both of my dogs have black nails that prohibit me from seeing the quick. One day, I was cutting my Shih Tzu's nail and I cut into the quick. She cried and ran away from me with blood shooting everywhere. Now I get so nervous about cutting their nails that I do not cut their nails very short. I will be buying Pedi Paw to make cutting my dogs' nails a good experience for me and my dogs. I usually have the veterinarian or groomer cut their nails. I voted that I know how to do it, but I prefer someone else to do it. |
The first time the vet did it, then the groomer for about 3 years. Then, my uncle did it, and I watched and now I do it. Although, Sapphire has a cow everytime I get near her with the clippers! |
I do it. |
When I first got my pedicure I just let my lil one sniff and check it out...then held her in my lap with the pedicure while she sniffed at it, and I gave her a treat. Next step was to hold her paw while she was up on her grooming table with the pedicure not turned on, next to her nail....again another treat...then we tried turning it on and letting her hear it,,,,, again a treat.....we slowly progressed till we got it on and to her nail....did a real quick filing and a treat...she now will put her foot up for me...as she knows she is going to get a treat when we are done. This took about a week and a half....Well worth the time...I have no problem doing all 4 paws now and she gets a treat afterwards...of course I am talking to her the whole time.. :p |
The groomer does it. I sometimes try to take a little off, but it just freaks me out that I'm going to cut too much so I hate doing it! |
Groomer does it ... but most of the time my Hubby does ..... |
My husband and I clip their nails :) |
Mostly the groomer but hubby does it in between.;) |
I do it. I don't take much off and if I am starting to press on Ellie's quick, she cries before I cut, so we have never had a bloody mess. :) She has been getting really upset about it lately though. I think something is bothering her, so if that continues a tech might have to do it. The only thing is, some vets and techs don't care about making them bleed and if that is going to happen, I might as well do it myself. |
