| Do you go to a groomer or do it yourself? I was wondering how many people take their Yorkies to a groomer and how many people do it themselves. |

| I take Jeremiah and Jane to a professional groomer. They go every 2 weeks and in between that time I groom myself. I wash them sometimes but it depends on if they need it or not.

| I groom Pixie myself.. she's a dream to groom luckily. I do take her in to have her nails clipped because I'm too scared to attempt them myself. I also groom my Maltese myself for the most part.. once in a while if he gets too matted I'll take him to the groomer but that happens maybe 3 times a year.

| I groom Willy myself.I keep him in a puppy cut, so it's pretty easy to do. Several years ago I took a pet grooming class so I have a little idea what I am doing. Besides you hear all kinds of horror stories about groomers & I just couldn't go there. I have a friend who's dad does grooming & she has tried several times to get me to take Willy to him, but he is a heavy drinker & have heard he can be rough. I just dont say much when she mentions it. Desiree Last edited by kittendes; 07-05-2005 at 09:42 AM. Reason: accidenty hit yorkiesar twice |

| I take Chachi and Jewels to a professional groomer. I know I could never do as good of a job as she does.

| I groom Carter myself but have taken him twice to a groomer also. The first grooming was a nightmare because they shaved his nose and cut bangs! ARGHHH The second groomer was fantastic at her job but I don't like the conditions at her place. Besides . . . she requires that you drop off your pup in the morning at 9 AM and usually doesn't allow you to return until late afternoon. I was lucky -- Carter was only there from 9 AM to noon but that was too long for me while she had a total of 13 dogs there in her possession! I'm still looking for a good groomer to use once every quarter or so.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | When I first got Chester, I would take him to the groomers. The groomer lacked a personality, but she was very informative and would let me stay and watch as she did my baby. I caught on pretty quick and learned how to do it myself. Now, I don't have to have it done and it saves me a lot of money!

| I have a question for all those who groom their pups themselves. I am planning on letting Reagan's hair grow out. Humans get trims to cut split ends and keep the hair growing and such. Do the pups need this too or do you just pretty much let them grow out to the length you like then start trimming?

| I take Tini to the groomers for a full "do", but inbetween, I have been able to go a longer time by finally getting some courage and shaving up her butt myself. I tried doing her nails, but I think that really is a two man job since she squirms around so much.
