Have you or do you plan to join the fight against puppy mills?
 

I was just wondering how many people have already or plan to write letters to someone or do something to join the fight against puppy mills. I know that several YTers, including myself, have written e-mails to local news stations and newspapers. Please post below what you have done or plan to do.

yes i have already done something. i wrote to a news station and i plan to right to another one in a few days.

Currently I have not done all the much...when I talk to people who are thinking about getting a new little one I always tell them about puppymills and the dangers about them...I encourage them to ask lots of questions and report anything that sounds unlawful...and when the right situation comes up I will be ready to act to help the innocent puppies!!

You may not think that you have done much, but you have! Just telling people about puppy mills is doing something! We have to increase public awareness, and you are doing that!

I have been working with a friend of mine and spreading the word about puppy mills. I also added the mill buster site to my business card so that everyone can check out the site and learn about the mills.

You all know about the rest of what I have done so no need to go into detail.

i plan on wearing my anti puppymill shirt that heather hamptons is doing everywhere :D

I am ordering bumperstickers for all my family and friends as well as telling anyone who will listen how bad these things are and how many oklahoma has they are always shocked to learn that we have so many.

It is so great to learn how much everyone is doing to fight the puppy mills! I am so proud of everyone here and I just love being a part of this site!

i wrote to the local newspaper. nothing big but i did it. grrr. who wrote i dont want to do anything

well I emailed one letter to a radio station in regards to their sponsor petland that they were advertizing for, I am currently trying to locate this puppy mill in texas that was posted about these poor pups starving to death and she (swtnutns) was waiting for another call in regards to it to give us an update, so I am working on pulling up all the local radio, news channels in that area and congressmen that represent the state of texas! This s____T just gets my blood boiling so I guess you can say Im going to try and fight city hall or start a petition for a law to be passed in regards to these so called kennels aka puppy mills! that they must past inspections just like they do in restaurants! where the health department inspects them and closes them for violations etc.. I just need to make some noise, draw attention to what is going on here! have pet stores pay hefty fines if they buy live animals from mills. I had saved a web page were apollo has puppies listed there and I could not believe my eyes she said she ran a puppymill!! But I kind of think someone did post it? but Im glad :thumbs up But my point here is even if she or she didn't posted she ran a puppy mill "people " are still wanting to buy these poor pups!! Are these people brain dead????? it shows me they just don't care until they run into problems then they take notice...

Here is a link to the thread I started sometime back trying to empower the members here who really want to do something. This is what I did. I am also researching the issue from both sides as I like to know as much as possible about a topic that I am passionate about. I despise animal cruelty in any form and have worked my entire life to stop it and I will continue in my efforts.

Haven't done much really. I talk to family and friends about puppy mills often. Hopefully they'll help us spread the word.

I havent done a whole lot.Just inform people about them,i emailed all of my flist to sign the petition(both of them) and i am planing on emailing the local radio stations and news channels.

I reported 2 puppymills to the Animal Protection of my city . They sent agents and they took the dogs for adoption at the shelter . There were a few that have been euthanazied because they were in too bad shape . I will always fight to have these places closed forever .

On top of telling evryone I know and making the shirts, millbusters.com and the new forum, i've also contacted hundreds of websites asking them to link to millbusters.com. I've also emailed goverment officials in lancaster county as well as president bush and cheney and a few new stations.

Even if you think you dont have time to help, you do. take a moment to sign the petitions. At the very least, tell EVERYONE you know abotu puppy mills and how they should NOT buy ANYTHING from pet stores that sell animals!

I agree! Everyone can do a little something to help! At the moment, my main concern is increasing public awareness. There aren't many people out there that know what a puppy mill is and what goes on there. By just wearing a millbusters chirt or hat or SOMETHING, you are making a difference!!

I just bought Shelby the dog shirt from millbusters and believe me I will parade her around it. So, hopefully the shirt will catch people's eye or Shelby will lol and I can start a convo and spread the word about puppy mills.

I've been trying to do small things for almost 2 years now - and I want to say that I'm LOVING all these people speaking out against PET STORES and Puppy Mills - I'm REALLY proud of all of us - every small thing can be BIG things when there's enough people....and this site is doing a GREAT job helping this fight to Stop those Evil Humans from abusing innocent animals.

I have master letters I email out - TV...radio...other sites...government officials and legislators ....and now have access to new better letters on the Millbuster site....

I'm linking Millbusters to other sites I'm a member of....got a few people to join..... - I sign petitions and I email sites that need voices added to the fight - I've educated EVERY single person I have a relationship with - family - friends and have stuff in my car to hand out now. I printed up the business cards - and will add Millbusters to my website - I'm in the process of a few changes but it WILL be on there.

You're doing alot - this is a start - You tell one friend who tells a friend who tells....you know what I'm getting at - Don't think it's small what your doing - the right person may hear you one day....the right people will hear ALL of us one day.

I created http://www.superpets.org to inform the public about puppy mills and in particular the store in my city that sells sick, puppy mill dogs. Super Pets in Santa Rosa, CA and Windsor, CA sells puppy mill dogs from Oklahoma and Missouri. Some of which come from the Hunte Corp.

I have written to local papers and radio stations. I try to educate friends or acquitances who are looking to purchase a dog about not buying from pet shops and either go to a reputable breeder or an animal rescue group. I have make some rather loud comments while walking by a pet store in our area mall. Recon's Mom I am not as brave as you yet. But you are an inspiration. Next time I may just do "A RECON"S MOM".

I posted somewhere that I wanted to start a protest group in my area, Fort Worth, but havent heard anything from anyone yet. I think it would be great to start one here if there isnt already one! Go to all pet stores in DFW area and have posters and flyers and all till we get kicked out by police lol. MuffinsMom

i dont know what i plan to do. dont know where to start. i do know i have been telling people about the websites that were here so maybe by passing the word around im doing something locally cause we live in a small but growing area and im sure its around here just havent stumbled apon one yet vilette cleared up my questions on puppy mills and i told other people now that we know what they really are and look like we can better judge and pass the word on.
