Oops - can't edit anymore, so I have to repost this: One thing you need to consider is making sure all of your software & hardware is compatible with Mac before you switch. Also, if you only need it for personal use, don't get tricked into thinking you need the most expensive computer out there. There are PLENTY of inexpensive computers out there in the $400 that will be fast & do just exactly what you need. Ooops! I just noticed I have an HP! But - a few years ago, I only needed this computer for personal use. I paid 400 bucks for it (CPU only), and it has done even a fairly decent job even at what I need at a professional level. The technology has vastly improved since then. I had to get an external hard-drive, as well as upgrade the RAM - neither of which are major, but point is -- you don't need to spend a fortune to get a good computer. :) HTH! |
I would get a laptop! My hubby recently bought me a Dell laptop, and I'm loving it! I never get on my regular computer anymore! lol |
I was a PC user until 2 months ago when I got my Macbook..... I will never go back!! Now I know why people are fanatics about their Macs!! I love it! When my desktop dies, I will get an IMac.:) |
Just wanted to post to say that I needed to get a computer a lot faster than I thought (mine DIED last week) so I ended up getting a HP with a 22" BrightView wide screen moniter. I don't know all the numbers but I think it'll do everything I need and more importantly it was only $800 at Sam's!!! Hubby wanted bigger but honestly - this is large enough! It's just a computer.... I'd rather buy dog clothes! :D Anyway, I would like to try the iMac but that will have to wait until I get new furniture (which might be a little while)! Thanks to everyone who took the time to post - I still like to hear your reviews. |

Dell, Hp/compact, Toshiba I have a Dell 4550 for our PC. Worked great for 3 years then suddenly it decided it couldn't "find" the modem anymore. Where we live there is no cable yet (haha don't laugh!) so it was on dial up. No find modem=no find internet lol! My laptop is a HP/Compact nx6110 w/ a 15in screen. I love it. I steal DH air card when he is home to use on it ;) It needs to be reformatted but I always seem to find something better to do:p I have had it for 2 years now and it still runs strong. DH computer his work gave him is a Toshiba which I am on now. So far it has proven to be decent. He runs it w/ Verizon Broadband national access and everything is smooth. All 3 of our 'puters run on Windows XP:) I HATE VISTA!!!!!!:thumbdown |
