How Many Are Dealing With LP? It just seems soooo common and getting worse. I was wondering how many YTers are dealing with it. |
my little Tumi has stage 1 LP..:( |
I don't know but I am guessing Ellie might have stage 1. |
I have one with LP and one without. One came from a puppy mill and one came from a reputable exhibitor/breeder. I'll let you all guess which yorkie has the LP......and......no, the answer probably won't surprise you. |
Mine is possibly Stage 1 and did not come from a puppy mill |
mine has stage one and came from a breeder |
Sammy needs surgery. She has bad grade 3's and walks with her knees locked. She doesn't usually do the typical "limp" because she has learned to adapt by not bending her knees much. We're doing surgery in the next few months. She isn't in pain but we want her to be able to walk properly and not have as much risk for arthritis later. Loki has one mild grade 2. He will not need surgery and rarely has trouble. Those of you with grade 1's & 2's don't just assume you need surgery. It's really with the grade 3's & 4's or if they have visible trouble do they need it. Both of them are AKC from different breeders. I did not meet Sammy's breeder (we are not her first owners) but I am sure that Loki's breeder did not OFA/X-Ray. She was not concerned when I told her he had a grade 2 and said that was normal... |
Gracie had a grade 2 and 3 and is now recovering from surgery performed on 1/24/08. Holly also has LPs, so far we think they are just a grade 1. She has not yet been x-rayed. I am waiting until she is older. She has not had surgery. |
Kassie was diagnosed with mild LP when she was about 3mths old. It has never been an issue for her and she will be ten in July. I am not as informed as most of you so am not sure if she is stage 1 or not? I will never forget the day the vet said Kass had it , I felt literally sick . My heart truly breaks for those of you who have to deal with more serious LP. When Kassies' breeder was told she asked that we go to her vet for a second opinion. Her vet was a lot more knowledgable and assured us it was nothing to be alarmed over. She has been our vet ever since. Sorry so long I got carried away. |

Lacy has bilateral medial luxation. Her left leg is a grade 2 and right leg is a grade 3. So far her legs haven't bothered her or caused any pain. She came from a small byb |
Ya know, I had never even heard about Lp before joining yt, Iam sorry for your babies who have this, Iam not sure if any of mine have it, But iam thinking by now i would no, at least i hope, I know it has to do with there joints in there legs..can it effect all there little legs, And what are the signs to watch for? Iam asking because I think my sisters new babie might have this, she limps with her right paw in the air at times? but not always, Is there a certain age in witch we should start to notice this? Hope you dont mind all my Questions:) prayer are with your babies, hope they are not in pain. |
Both Magic and Sailor have showed signs of having LP and the vet has mentioned that their knees "slip" and it could be LP. Sailor shows more signs, but seems to have a milder case.....but the vet has already suggested surgery once for Magic - she was having less frequent problems but appeared to be in pain and did not recover from each episode as quickly. We are having Magic looked at this Saturday when she gets her shots - as she appears to be getting worse and showing signs daily - and will ask about the degree of her LP. |
