I don't take her because I usually have my kids with me and I only have two hands so it's better to not bring her and have to worry that she gets hurt. |
I actually didn't answer. We didn't take our yorkies shopping with us, because we didn't take them many places with us at all. They went with us to pet stores, the dog park, family's houses, and other places like that. :) |
I want to take Jambo everywhere but too many intolerant places. I remember when I lived in Paris, I went to a cafe. A couple (American tourists) complained about a black lab (Cleopatra was her name) that was seated next to her parents. The waiter told them if they did not like it, they should leave. Yorkies are especially popular in Paris, actually dogs in general. You are likely to step into some poop on the sidewalk. It is considered to be good luck. |
Because of my job, I used to visit some trade shows in Europe. I do remember how I was surprised when I saw a yorkie walking with an owner inside building at Lingerie Trade Show in Paris. No carrier, no stroller, just walking. Definitely, dogs in Europe are more welcome in public places than in the US. IMXO. |

I remember that !!! :D But I didn't know about "good luck". I always looked my steps :D :D |

Sam goes wherever.... He is in his bag when we go to the movies or Wal Mart, they never know he is there. |

It's not true of Tommy Bahama's outdoor restaurant in Naples, Florida. Believe me, I tried. They wanted me to "tie Kalina to a bench around the corner". |
I picked #3. I've taken Bella and Chloe to Lowes, Home Depot, Target and Walmart (was asked to leave:( ) and all of the local pet stores of course. We have two dog friendly malls, Miromar Outlets and Coconut Point Mall. They've been in Off Saks and I took them in the dressing room with me. I think they enjoy going with me. They like watching everything and love the attention from the kids. I've taken Chloe to Aventura Mall in Miami, which is dog friendly, and Dadeland Mall, although security reminded us dogs were not allowed in the mall. I've taken Chloe to South Beach and we had drinks there. I was kinda surprised because I didn't think they would let us sit at the outdoor bar/restaurant. I also dined at an outdoor restaurant in Fort Lauderdale with Chloe in her stroller and at Cheesecake Factory in Aventura Mall. Overall I think south Florida is more dog friendly than most places.:D |
I do not take my girl to any place that serves or sells food products as it is a health code violation unless they are guide/service dogs. I used to be an Operations Auditor for Home Depot and some stores had food service carts at the entrances and dogs were strictly forbidden inside the stores because of this (unless a guide/service dog of course). I love to take her on small trips to the pet store, etc. to acclimate her to different situations, but I also think leaving her at home alone on small trips is also important as separation anxiety is also something we are working on at the moment. If I'm not specifically going on a trip to do something with her, then I would prefer to leave her at home because I never know what situation may occur that would prevent me from taking her into a building or store and you simply can't leave your pet in the car in the heat of Fort Lauderdale, FL for even a minute. |
Yes, but only in stores where pets are allowed. However, my babies just don't do well in the car - they used to when they were younger, but now they always seem to freak out. So honestly, I don't take them with me like I used to. |
i once took lola to the movies, hahah |
Shopping... I'm one of those who think that dogs don't belong everywhere. WE know that Yorkies don't shed but others don't so they get upset at their presence. I have taken my Chloe into Michael's..in her 'purse' because it's right next door to PetSmart; no body in there seemed to mind.;). She's only 4 months old and still gets soooooo excited around people (I'm working on that!) that it's really NOT fun to try to take her anywhere on a leash just yet! |
Yeah we do ..... |
I must admit, I have snuck Derby into places that don't allow dogs but no one even notices when I have him in a bag. I just can't leave him in the car if it isn't safe or if it is too hot out or if I'm going to be any longer than 5 minutes. He goes everywhere with me. I too, have also taken him into the movies with me once....I won't do it again but it was perfectly fine and no one else knew. :D |
I answered #4...I haven't hidden Daxter when I've gone in anywhere, he has a bag or a pouch and most of the time people don't even notice him. I haven't taken him to a restaurant, but I have taken him in the grocery store and Wal Mart. This is my newest rant... We live in a very small town in east TX so we have to pretty much travel to go shopping. Dax goes with us everytime we go to Petco and on this particular trip I wanted to go in my favorite store...TJ Maxx. Dax was in his pouch and we were promptly told no dogs were allowed. I swole up but kept my mouth shut (which is unusual for me). I just thought to myself "I won't be back...EVER". I spend ALOT of money in that store and was VERY dissappointed. Well, I just got off the phone with customer service...and they don't have a pet policy because they don't sell food! She said I am more than welcome to take my baby in their stores and she would address this immediately!!!! You know I can't wait to carry him in the next time and grin from ear to ear!!!! I'm actually thinking I may take him on a leash and not bother with his bag! Now y'all know there generally isn't a rule unless they sell food. Happy shopping with your babies!!!! |
Wow, well this is good news. I hope it's true for here in Florida. I would love to take any of mine with me to a store that doesn't sell food. Will let you all know. :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa Darlene |
I use to take Little Man with me everywhere I went, but there are times that I had to go to places that I knew he couldn't come in and had to leave him in the car for a few mins. Since then I only take him with me to the places I know he's welcome to go in. |

I used to take KiKi everywhere...she's not as easy to hide anymore...she likes to see everything and everyone!! hee hee now the world has become less dog friendly...and I have been asked to leave....WalMart...Giant Tiger... I miss taking her with me...maybe with a stroller...they wouldn't notice..hmmm:p |
I took Maybelline to Wal-mart in one of the purse bags and no one knew the difference, but I had not taken her back in awhile because I was feeling guilty. But then just last week, I saw a lady take in one those monkey's people are starting to get as pets. It was on a leash, dressed in a dress and diaper, and sitting on her shoulder out in the open. So I stopped feeling bad about bringing Maybelline enclosed in a bag. We also snuck Maybelline in a Mexican food restuarant on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We were starving and far from the hotel. No one asked and I didn't share the information that it was a pet bag and not a purse and yes she was much more well behaved than some of the screaming children in the restuarant. |

I don't try to take Lucas with me cuz there are signs everywhere--no pets allowed. One time I tried to take my pug into Lowe's with us--he was about 12 years old and toothless--and an employee told me that I couldn't. But I seen all kinds of dogs in Lowe's--small dogs in the buggies and large dogs on leashes. I haven't tried to take Lucas in since our puggy wasn't allowed. :( I would take him to PetsMart but it's almost an hour drive there and he gets carsick. |
Just the other day we had Sadie with us in town and I had to make a trip into Walmart. I had taken her into Walmart one other time and no one said anything ot me. As a matter of fact, while I was in the checkout line, another lady had a small dog with her too. Anyway, so the other day I just walked in holding Sadie. This young employee walked over to me while I was getting my cart (I had my mom with me and my 3 boys) and asked, "Um, we only allow service dogs in here. Is your dog a service dog?" and I said "Yes." And she looked at me kinda funny and said "What service does he provide?" and I smiled and said "She makes me happy and she is my only girl, as you can see!" It didnt work though. I had to have my oldest son, he is 12, take Sadie out front and hold her while we went through Walmart. It was a good effort though. We are going on vacation next week. I can pay the extra $10/day to bring her and keep her in the hotel, but I dont think thats going to be a good time for her so we've decided to have my parents babysit her for us. |
we take brooklyn every week to the pet stores to get her treats. i once took her into wal-mart in a carrier and no one said anything until we got to the check out line and when the cashier saw her she said dont let the managment see her or they will ask you to leave. we never took her back for fear of getting caught. she goes to lowes and home depot with us. terryy |
I chose #3 BUT, I do admit bringing Mia in places that dogs aren't allowed but only in her carrier and ONLY because it is dangerous or too hot to leave her in the car. |
We have 3 Yorkies now so sneaking them in anywhere is not possible. We live in a pedestrian friendly area and some places are GREAT. Bank of America lets me bring all three dogs in and they give us dog treats. I tried to stop in a 7-11 and get a lottery ticket one day and had 1 Yorkie in my arms and got "no dog" yelled at me. It would have been less offensive if the clerk yelling had done it in grammatically correct English. I pulled out a 100 dollar bill and said "no dog, no money". I have never been in my neighborhood 7-11 again. The 7-11 is a bit odd since most of their customers are strippers from the club next door. |

There should be a NO, plain NO...I voted NO but not because they don't belong in stores...just because I have three and can't deal...plus....I take too long and Vinnie hates when I shop...he is so picky when I am picking things out....ugghh |

7-11 is following the health codes for the area. They sell open food and are prohibited from having anything other than a service animal in the stores. I'm sitting on my hands to keep from typing what I think about your "grammatically correct English" comment. |
