Please don't hate me but I just don't have time to read thru alllllll the posts in this thread. But from what I have read so far, it sounds like the canon rebel eos xs is a good camera??? I have a friend that has one he has barely used, a year old, and is willing to sell the entire kit including the carrying case for $300. Is this camera really ALLLLLL that??? I mean...I have been to concerts and see people with nice cameras taking pictures that make it look like they were right up on stage with people. I'm totally jealous of that. Is this a camera that could do this stuff for me? I also want to take beautiful pics of my kids and fur butts. I'm assuming other lenses can be used to make it even better, right? I'm such a newbie at all this. I have only ever used a point and shoot, quick shot, cheapo digital camera...so I'm sure this will be totally awesome compared to that. But I dont want to spend that kind of money if its not worth it. know what i mean??? |

Wow look at all the lenes included! is the D80 just lower than the D90 because of the mega pixels? That sounds like an awesome deal! |

For this price though, I'm so tempted to get it just to try. Shoot, I bet just the lenses, extra battery, sd cards and bag would be enough to justify getting it at this price. |

Darn, I wish I had a little extra cash - I think I'd call and go take a look at what this person is selling. I could put the camera body back up for sale and get the lenses for a steal. |
Can anyone who is better w/ camera specs & such help me out here? I'm always weighing my options, looking at cameras, different lens, etc... as some of you know, I really miss my video feature. I came across this camera: ![]() Olympus E-P1 (they have an E-P2 now but not in my price range!) it's basically a small dslr. I don't really mind my Rebel's size, it's not really that big & bulky or anything but it would be nice to have something more "fit in my purse" size for vacations etc and still get good quality pics. I've been reading some reviews on it and most say it's wonderful. But I'm just curious as to how much of a downgrade it would be from my Canon Rebel XS. Some of the sample photos I've seen from this Olympus camera are really good! But I'm just not sure. My action shots are my fave so that's important... I don't really have to do much w/ my Rebel, it's always on auto or sport mode! 12.3-megapixel interchangeable lens digital camera; Micro Four Thirds format Includes 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko digital zoom lens In-body Image Stabilization; 3-inch HyperCrystal LCD with Live View function Record HD video with high-quality audio; in-camera creative features (for still images and video) Capture images and video to SD/SDHC memory cards (not included) |
Helpful Link I have read this thread until my eyeballs fell out today. Y'alls photos ROCK!!!! This has been SO educational for me today! I still haven't quite decided WHICH camera I am going to purchase....but my old friend from high school sent me this link today (she just started her own professional photograph business and gets asked "what camera should I buy?" every single day, LOL) and it is QUITE helpful!!! It has the most popular comparisons listed on the bottom of the page and you can just click them or you can type in A vs B with whatever choices you want and get a pro/con summary and see exactly which camera has which. Hope this helps somebody who is still trying to figure out which one to get. Maybe I will figure it out before the sun comes up... Snapsort |
Cool link!!! so did you decide :D I love my D5000. |
I *think* I have finally decided on the Nikon D90. I think. I'm 99 percent sure. ;) I am just scared I am going to be overwhelmed by it and not use it like I need to. But....with these two puppies....I would imagine once I get going, I am not going to want to stop taking their picture. :D I am also SUPER excited because I just booked a holiday photo session for December 2010 with my friend who just started the photo business and she is going to do us WITH the pups for our anniversary this year. I literally cannot wait for December! She was the one who finally made up my mind....she has always been a Canon person and she still recommended the D90 and it is on sale at Amazon right now so there is really no reason NOT to get it. That's my story....and I'm sticking to it! |
I've just finished re-reading this entire thread. :p Wow, I'd forgotten just how much great info is in here - I'm so happy it was made a stinky. :D |
4 Attachment(s) It only took me a week to read this whole thread. I should have started reading before I ordered my camera but Hopefully by Friday my D5000 will be here. I am so excited!! I have learned so much from here and to think this is a Yorkie forum.. Ohh at the things you can learn from having a yorkie. This is going to be a long week..... These are a few pictures I took with my old camera. |

Lol on the comment, that was a good one and I agree -- I have learned so much here at YT about yorkies - but at the same, I've learned so much here *not* about yorkies :p! Great piccies too, but can't wait to see some new ones once you get your D5000 :). |
