I want an SLR so bad! You guys are making it even worse with all these awesome pics! |
I got my Canon Rebel xsi EOS last Christmas and can tell you now, I need to enroll in a class. I've read the instructions more times than I like to say, and I still can't understand how to work it. My husband gave up. The book of instructions are terrible to a lay person who has never had a camera like it. I finally bought a thin CASIO EXILIM 12 mp. Love this little camera and it's perfect on trips. Marci, what setting did you have the Canon set on when you took those pictures of Layla? |

here is a picture that I have not edited- and one that I had- it is NOT just the camera- any picture you see like this has probably been edited- but i'm just enhancing color and sharpness- things like that. does that help? |
A lot of community education centers, high schools, local colleges, etc have basic SLR courses and intro to photography for very reasonable prices. It is well worth the investment of time for a few classes to get the basics. Most SLRs' have three basic modes: Aperture priority= you set the lense opening, the camera does the rest Shutter priority= you set the shutter speed, the camera does the rest Manual= once you understand lense aperture and shutter speed and light and film speed (ISO) , you are in total control of the pic Also programmed or auto mode, you just take the pic, the camera does everything. DSLR's have come a long way in the last 5 years or so, and are now giving pictures very close to 35mm film cameras  |
2 Attachment(s) Marci, I've never done anything with the pictures I take. Maybe that's something else I should learn. ;) Thank you AprilLove. Sounds like you could teach us a few things. I want you to look at the pictures here. I was standing in the exact same spot when I took these, but I zoomed in on the one that left Zada and Razael a bit out of focus. Look how clear Azrael is on the left. What happen there? |

you can adust the f stop in Av mode- push the "set" button and then use the rotating thing that is right behind where you push the button to take the picture- you will see the numbers move. |
1 Attachment(s) here is an example of it edited If i had like photoshop- i could take the middle dog (sorry Donna- still can't put your girls to their names :) ) and make it so she isn't so "shiny" since her coloring is SO much lighter the light really bounces off of her- but that software is expensive :) maybe one day! |

Another thing to throw in the mix, lol. It is focus area, I am not real familiar with the camera you are using, but there are different modes for auto focus, one is center weighted, your cam may have different names for it. But your camera, in auto focus mode, will use different areas based on your selection, for focusing. Focus area will also change when you zoom or expand |
