Popular Restaurants that you think have terrible food
 
Do you have many of these in your area? There are a lot that are super popular and get tons of love, but I just don't get why! Just a few that stick out in my mind.

Pepe's Finest Mexican Food - Fullerton, CA
This place is popular bc they serve burritos the size of a baby. Quantity does not equal quality people! There's even a pic in their lobby of someone who got their logo tattooed on them! :eek:

Gina Maria's Pizzeria
Gina Maria's Pizzeria - Placentia, CA
$35 for a soggy pizza and tiny wings! I even got a message from a random person after I posed this review that there's no way I could have gotten a soggy pie from here. Um yes, it was so soggy it was limper than a wet noodle!

What's Up Men - Fullerton, CA
I just don't get ramen joints in general. I can whip up something for less than $3 that's really filling, and it doesn't even have to be the instant kind. But I just can't get into a $9 bowl of carbs with one measly piece of pork.

This place is so nasty. I don't understand how it's packed all the time!

Any places in your town that's super busy but you just don't know what all those people are thinking?

Olive Garden. . .

Not Italian food. It is bland food. Salad dressing to vinegary. They do not train their cooks in Italy. They do not make their food fresh.

Well I think pretty much any large corporate chain restaurants can fall under this category. And I totally agree with you. Olive garden is nasty food. Plus pasta is so easy to make at home, and the mark up is ridiculous!

When I lived in LA I never understood the hype with Tito's Tacos down in Culver City. They were more like Del Taco than the good tacos you can get all over... for instance, my favorites were King Taco out on Cesar Chavez & Soto, Tacos El Gavilan down on South Central, and Campos down on Venice. Tito's always has long lines, but their tacos are so bland.

You know what? I don't think King Taco is that good! I think I told you before. It's not bad, but not my favorite place. My sister LOVES King Taco. Every time she's in town she has to go.

Actually, how about food trucks? I didn't get the hype over Lime Truck. They won the Great Food Truck Race the first year. Their foods ok, but SO expensive and small portions. Never saw a long line for them either.:rolleyes:

Curious what Taco stands you like in LA and what they do well (no Orange County nor valley though, as I'm never out in either place).

Well since I live in OC, can't really say too much about LA taco joints. But one of my faves is in East LA, Tacos Baja Ensenada. Tacos Baja Ensenada - Los Angeles, CA
I love they do fish tacos with basa! and their shrimp are pretty big. I LOVE their campechana. I get it with shrimp and octopus. It's totally stuffed!

Other fish taco places I like in LA county are Taco Nazo and Senor Fish. There's also this taco truck on the weekends in Eagle Rock but I don't know the name.

But in OC I love El Camino Real. Their cabeza and lengua there are OMG!

Thanks for the recommendations! I think my favorite Mexican place for shrimp in LA is El Tepeyac Cafe. Love their machaca burritos too.

KFC up here in Canada....so greasy...they aren't even allowed to call it chicken anymore cuz they don't use real chicken...chicken is engineered....gross!
Taco Bell....I think tacos are supposed to have ground beef in them....usually you get mush!! Something that is supposed to be ground beef, but is mostly beans and something else...I have no idea what, for me just not edible...oh and the SALT....YUCK, aside from the mush that is supposed to be ground beef, all you are tasting is salt, no other flavors at all

I don't like Long John Silvers. Everything taste the same. If I was blindfolded...I wouldn't know if I was eating chicken or fish...lol.

LOL I don't think real tacos are supposed to have ground beef in them at all. I wonder what the Mexican employees that work at Taco Bell think about the food.

Is Long John Silver's popular in your area? I know of ONE in So Cal and it's never been busy. Actually I'm surprised it's still in business.

I'm talking places that are super busy during lunch or dinner and you go by and are just like WTF?! Like imagine if In N Out was gross. That's what I mean. I used to think that way about Five Guys, but all their locations here aren't busy anymore. Just as I had predicted. this is In N Out country, you can't go against them.

Oh I've heard of El Tepeyac! I'll have to check them out for sure now! I love machaca! I just checked out their yelp reviews. I'm usually pretty weary of places with ginormous burritos. I also saw Manuel passed away earlier this year?

I don't eat chicken because chickens eat their own poop.

We only eat meat that we have either shot and processed (deer, duck, hog) or raised and had butchered (cows, pigs)

It has been a few years since I have eaten there, but everything on their menu was awesome (and I think I have had most of it). The Hollenbeck de machaca is my favorite thing there. Don't order any kind of appetizer, as every plate is huge. Their burritos are big enough that I usually took at least 1/3rd home. I think I finished a regular Hollenbeck (pork) or Hollenbeck de Machaca a couple of times, and took a large portion back home the other 20 or 30 times lol.

You have probably seen this, but if not...

All of ours are combined with A&W, so they have burgers and hot dogs too.

I don't eat fish because it tends my make my face and lips swell up and my throat close and I break out in hives, or what my husband lovingly refers to as "the itchy rash disease". I carry an epi pen.

I can eat sushi (certain fishes) if its at a reputable sushi place where I know its grade A and fresh.

There are two things in the world that literally make me puke every single time I eat them:

1. Green beans

And I will NEVER understand why in the world there is always a line a whole block long at the Olive Garden in Times Square??!! Don't tourists have the Olive Garden where they live??

Worst tourist restaurant I have ever seen is Bubba-Gump Shrimp Company. I had a friend who was dying to try the place for some reason when we were hanging out on the Santa Monica pier. After looking at their menu and inflated prices I just didn't order anything. My friend was really disappointed to pay $20 for a bowl of soup with a few tiny and flavorless shrimp in it. I told him he was an idiot for even going there before and after, and I stopped at Carl's Jr for a much better meal for 1/3rd of the price lol.

I don't like 5 guys burgers. I just don't get the attraction.

I hate Cracker Barrel and don't understand why so many people love it.

I really am not much for chain restaurants anyway I guess.

Pondarosa sucks, worse food ever. But we kept returning hoping it was just a bad day for the cook and nope, still horrible food every time. There use to be 2 in our town and now there are none. I think they got the hint to pack it up and leave. :mad: :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown

Love Pizza we try a different one every Sunday, but every now and than we get this soggy bottom crust from one of our private owned pizzeria's that just pissed me off. Most of the time when we order there it awesome. But not the last time, try eating a soggy slice of pizza, not good. :( :thumbdown:thumbdown

Love Chinese food and we'll try anything or new restaurant once but when you find out that the food is all processed, pre packaged and made by the same people who own the nail salon two doors down not good, it was horrible. Not one think we tried was good. I know good, fresh, made from scratch Chinese food when I see it and that was not it. Very disappointing . :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown

The white chocolate raspberry cheesecake is incredible there, especially with their whipped cream. And the shrimp scampi is outstanding there. Haven't been as impressed with their other menu items, but that one is great. I also really like their service. I'm that guy who always orders water to drink since I refuse to drive after any kind of alcohol and I hate soda, and usually have them come by to refill my drink 4-6 times while eating there. The service has always been so good that I don't think I have ever tipped less than 30%. My only real complaint with the place is their plates are way too big. I have to starve myself all day if I want to have any chance for cheesecake there.

Blech! Any time I have ordered a steak there it always comes out at least medium when I order rare. Gotta admit their french onion soup is good though.

I got a shrimp PO boy there before and it wasn't too bad. I can't remember how much it cost though. Is funny tho, bc shrimp is one of the easiest things on the planet to cook. Why would you go to a restaurant and have them charge you three times or more of what you can make it for yourself?

You know what really bugs me about Cheesecake Factory? Their logo! Why is the big C so damn close to the H? Scoot that back out a little will ya?

I haven't had Outback since I was a kid, and I remembered the waiters always said they do their steaks a little under done. I never thought that to be true and I've always eaten my steaks rare or med rare.
