I just ate my last Hostess snowball. I will miss my Hostess products but even sadder is another business going under with 18,000 more unemployed. Scary world. My DH (RIP) believed the Mayan prediction would happen so maybe I will see him again soon. |
some Co will buy the name and recipes they will be back |
I will miss "Twinkies" LOL they were my favorite :) |
It's one more thing from the past that's just gone. And even if another company buys them and uses the recipe, the name, the packaging and I'll bet the Hostess products just won't be the same. I think they make Dolly Madison brands, too. Not sure what they make but have always heard of them! |
I wonder if a company from China will buy them? |
My agony over this event is actually one of dismay and shock and awe....how in the world have we gotten to the place in this country, when 5000 people in a Union, can absolutely be allowed to KILL a company, and put 18,000 people out of work, just because the company, which was already and had been, experiencing unresolved financial crisis, and could not possibly conceed to their unreasonable demands???? So, they tightened their strangle hold on the company, and killed it for everyone......which, oh by the way, WE will all be paying for in unemployment benefits and ....??? HEALTH CARE ???? why COULDNT SOMEONE, SOME WHERE, TOLD THIS GROUP, LIKE THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS WERE TOLD MANY YEARS AGO....NO!!!!! LEAVE!!! TAKE THAT CONTRACT, TEAR IT UP, AND THROW IT IN THE AIR!!! NOW GET OUT OF THE WAY, BECAUSE THERE ARE 10 PEOPLE STANDING BEHIND EACH ONE OF YOU THAT WOULD LOVE YOUR JOB!!! I am sorry, but I just can not understand this farce.....and I belong to a UNION!!! But I would NEVER support a "mandate" by my union, to do something like this!!!!! I would walk away first! |

Whew! This story was forever coming! Every time an icon threatens to disappear, one always thinks and hopes that someone will step up and buy the brand or somehow rescue the day by continuing production with their own company but I'd seen no stories about it until today. Twinkies will likely live on post-bankruptcy - CBS News |

It wasn't all the union's fault. I'm so sick of greedy executives doing this. |

Saw this headline on Google News about the bakers being more willing to lose their jobs than work for less pay. I get that they are making less than years ago but so are so many people who had rather work for less money than draw unemployment during these times. Twinkies bakers say they'd rather lose jobs than take pay cuts | Reuters |
