Has anyone ever tried to make their own? I found a recipe with over 1500 reviews. I'm going to attempt to make them this weekend :D |

That recipe sounds easy and delicious!!! |
I read through tons of the reviews. Big things I read were to rinse and dry the beans and to squeeze moisture out of veggies. Possibly add more bread crumbs and to freeze or partially freeze before cooking to help the burgers hold their shape! |
Only 1 tbsp cumin? OMG I put that ish on EVERYTHING! |

The reviews said the spice level could stand to be bumped up a bit too. My M.O. with burgers of any kind is to fry up a mini taster burger at different stages to see what the final product needs. Of course, I end up not being hungry for the final product that night  ;):D |
These sound so good and easy to make..i am gonna try them :) |
Thanks for the recipe! Definitely going to try it. I love black beans. I have a recipe for Brazilian Black Bean Stew that is awesome. One day when I have some time, I need to post it. |
That sounds really good. I want to try it. I love the Morningstar spicy black bean burgers. They are so expensive though, I'll hardly ever buy them. Cook them with some onions in a little olive oil & a dab of sour cream. Mmmmm |

Those are what I buy too. I'm sick of paying over a buck a burger for them though! |

I've never had a black bean burger so I don't have a anything to compare these to but I did make these today and they are good. I wanted to test them so I took about 2 tbsp. out of the mix and made one tiny one in a skillet and I put the rest in the freezer. I like them so far. They should be very good an a grill too! It diffidently has the flavor of mexican food with the combination of beans and the cumin. Good recipe! *I made them the way a poster did and used the food processor. But, I only used 1 1/2 tsp. of the cumin. I also did a couple of shakes of red pepper flakes to give it some heat. The processor worked out great. |

Even though I would normally use canned beans for this, I have a lot of dried black beans (Thanks Michelle ) so this is what I'm using. They are in the crockpot as I type. I added water, onion, cumin, and a jalapeno to the cooking water. Oh! I'm going to go back and add garlic :D:D |

Do you use whole kernel or cream style ? :) |

I made the burgers today!!!! I am in     I made "as written" except added corn(about 1/2 of a bag of frozen) and used hot paprika in place of the chili powder to add a smokey note. I don't really measure so can't be sure, but I think I used closer to 3/4 cup bread crumbs. I used way more salt because I started with dried beans and added chipotle salt at the end for more of a smokey finish. This recipe made closer to 10 ~ 12 burgers. My burgers were made using a palm sized ball of mix. I may have had more that one 16 ounce "can" worth of beans, though. I might add more than the 3 cloves of garlic next time. This recipe is a keeper!! |
Ok I'm in. This sounds really good Lisa! |
