Hungry? What do you want to eat? I guess this thread can be for those who are stuck on what they want to eat for their next meal, or those who need justification for choosing something naughty, or support for choosing the "right" thing to eat. I have this conversation with bf many times a day. What do you want to eat? Right now I have a choice between MIL's homemade beef stew, or BIL bringing home pizza. Bf says he wants pizza, and I'm not gonna lie pizza sounds good. There's also fresh corn on the cob that MIL cooked. Those are my choices, what should I eat? :p |
The stew because the vegetables are so good for you but to be honest I would probably eat the homemade pizza because I am naughty |
Corn and pizza! Veggies and pizza, you're satisfying two of the basic food groups right there. this is going to be my favorite thread. I never know what to eat, or have no imagination on what to eat. |
LOL you know me too well. I ended up eating corn first, then a slice of pizza. Then somehow about three discarded crusts ended up in my stomach but not before the were generously dipped in ranch. I have no idea how that happened. Now I think I want huitlacoche for lunch, and I usually get two shrimp tacos or a salad with steak that I usually save half of it for later. What should I eat? |

Just cooked Andy (husband) steak, fries, mushrooms, onion rings, peas + salad with peppercorn sauce. I want to eat what I just cooked him, but I didn't have enough.....:( !!! Sally x |
Wow what a good wife you are! I'm hungry now, and I think I want soup, it's kind of cold here today. I can't believe how slow this thread is. :( |
I really want some sliced cucumbers in vinegar. Mmm. I just want something light & refreshing...and maybe a nearly dangerous amount of caffeine so I can get something done! |
Mmm that sounds good! I soaked Persian cucumbers in lemon juice and salt and made some very tasty and fast pickles. Did even have to use heat! |
i want mexican food. anything but tex mex |
Craving pecan pie and it is only 6 o'clock in the morning here. |

I want to eat an avocado; sadly, there are none currently in my house and I don't want one badly enough to drive half a mile away to go to the store. :p I think I'll settle for an apple. |
LOL I wanted to get avocados yesterday, but they were all nearly rotten with a "ripe" sticker on it, or rock hard. But I wanted one right then. Poop. Guess who didn't get one? |

I might make a small trek up to the hippie ie organic and vegan market to get another reed avocado. Those are so tasty! I saw them at whole foods and they were $3 each, at Mother's they were $2 :D minus the gas bc Mother's is closer... makes it worth while. Also there's a mini olive bar there. Doesn't compare to WF but cheaper and closer. |
I'm definitely getting avocado tomorrow. This craving is not going away. I wish I loved olives, but I just don't. I don't know why. I think it's somewhere between a texture issue and a salt issue. I just can't get into them. |
I love salt, and I love avocados with salt. :D There are many many types of olives, and if there is a Whole Foods or similar market nearby (fancy "sustainable" market), you can try all the kinds. There are some that are less salty, more briny, more "meaty" more sour, etc, lot and lots of kinds. :D |
I like salt on avocados. Or salsa. Or lemon/lime. Or anything. What are some good olives to try? I can go to Whole Foods and pick some out. I'm wondering if Dean & Deluca has an olive bar. I've never paid attention. |
There are too many kinds, and since I can't get in your head (or tongue LOL) I don't know what you'd like. I say if you don't like the super salty ones, don't get kalamata for sure. there are these bright green ones that I forget the name, but they are not that salty, they are cured in meyer lemons. Then you can always try the pickled string beans, okra or artichoke or pesto tapenade or bruschetta. there's just so much! Even I haven't tried it all. there's also pickled red or green peppers, green olives stuffed with feta or almonds, dill pickles, cornichons, lots and lots! |
Hahaha that was a loaded question. I'll let you know what I end up with. I might go to the fancy side of town tomorrow. I have to pick something up for my buddy at Dean & Deluca...and Whole Foods is across the street. So if not tomorrow, then definitely the next day I'm off. |
I am really craving bbq sandwiches. we have some in our freezer may have to eat tomorrow |
turkey day dinner and rite now pizza |
Bump bump bump!!! I need ideas. I brown bag it for work to save money, but I lack creativity. :( other than chicken sandwiches, I have no idea what to make. |
Chicken salad sandwiches? :D It's hard to think of meals for brown bagging. I remember when I had to do that, and mostly were sandwiches, or don't bring anything and buy something from the lunch truck. |
Do you have leftover turkey? Make turkey salad sandwiches instead of chicken? I did that once, with Duke's mayo and fuji apple, it was good. :D I dunno.... :( |

I tend to do ham + mustard, ham tomatoes + mayo, ham + piccallili. Or cheese + pickle, cheese + onion. Or I boil eggs and make egg mayo. If he's been a very good boy ;) I make ham + cheese toasted sandwiches and wrap them in foil so they stay warm til lunchtime :) Sally x |
I am trying this new recipe I saw and have been dying to try: crispy potato raja tacos. YUM! I hope they are as good as they looked! |
I take my lunch every day. I used to have a website bookmarked with lots of lunch box ideas, but my computer charger blew up, so I can't currently use my laptop. :) Let me see if I can dig up that website for you... |

If I successfully copied and pasted that link from my phone, I've even impressed myself. There are lots of ideas on that site. :) |
Awesome!!! I do have a microwave (or 3) at work for us to use. I've made chicken noodle soup, packed up leftover carne frita con chile, and other foods I think re-heat well. We didn't have turkey at my house. We never do. :p we had carne asada with handmade tortillas. There was none left over. :) |
