A little fairy brought me not one but TWO jars of Dukes today! I'm having them with some fries right now. The laptop and mouse is nice and greasy!

Yum!!!! That was a nice surprise from Shinja:) We love Dukes too:D I think I have four jars in the cupboard right now:p

Not me...I could buy that any day of the week in any grocery store around here! :cool: Plus I don't like mayo! :p But I bet that was a nice surprise to get in the mail!

LOL we don't get Dukes in CA so this is a treat! :D Did I mention french fries too? ;)

I might just be a teeeeeeeeny bit jealous of the french fries. Especially if they are salty. And I'd be even more jealous if you were using ketchup instead of mayo!

Seriously though, my brother has an obsession with Dukes as well. It's the only mayo he will eat!

Hummm - we have Duke's here but I've never purchased it. Always considered it an "off"" brand :eek::D. We are tried and true Hellmann's Mayo fans :). BUT I do love French Fries - hot, salty and with Hunt's Ketchup.

I do know what you mean about "off" brands, however, I have read a lot about mayo on food blogs and forums, and they say there is an "old war" over Dukes and Hellmans/Best Foods on which is the best. Here on the west coast Hellmans is Best Foods.

Kewpie is another awesome mayo, it's a japanese mayo. got a totally different taste to it.

As far as being an "off" brand, I felt the same about Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce. It's really cheap and on the lower shelves, but it is SO good, I won't eat any other sauce now.

I do love fries with mayo though, it is a once in a long time treat for me. :D

Since Duke's is less expensive than our beloved Hellmanns, I'm going to give it a try. I'll report back with the verdict.

Sweet Baby Rays is the best for pulled chicken BBQ in the crock pot!

Cindy i can't buy Duke's in my area but got a jar out of town, I didn't like because it was to salty, but for someone that likes salty foods you may like, i am going to stay with krafts salad dressing/mayo i like both

I don't think it tastes more salty either. Totally has more of a "tang" to it :aimeeyork


BTW, the Mediterranean Sea Salt is a really good every day salt :D:D

Maybe. You know what it looks like right? The funny baby on the package. Sometimes it's in the refrigerated section, sometimes it's not. :rolleyes: Mix that with sriracha and you got the base sauce for spicy tuna, or spicy anything. Also a great dipping sauce for fried shrimp.

Well Hellmans/Best Foods is supposed to be the best mayo out there, but some like Dukes better. Dukes is only available in the south and east (I think, Lisa's got a map of the official states :rolleyes:) It's very creamy, a little less thick than Best Foods, and a bit more tangier. I will have to do a side by side taste test, but I don't have any Best Foods right now.

Also, apparently it's great for egg, chicken, or potato salads.

Here in Georgia we use Hellmanns. When we lived in Denver and Albuquerque we used Best Foods. Hubby is a Mayo Snob - and for many of our 30 years of marriage would only eat those brands. Believe me, he could detect a difference between the two "brands". It is very possible that the same product made with the same ingredients in different parts of the country will have a slightly difference taste. Some ingredients such as eggs, milk, and water have a different taste in different areas of the country.

I made deviled eggs, potato salad and chicken salad last weekend using Hellmanns. Even if I say so myself, it was truly yummy! :D
