Diet Soda Anybody else drink way too much of this stuff? :( |
I *love* Coke Zero and Diet 7-up (or any diet lemon/lime soda). I know it's so bad for me, but I do really love it. Ugh, it makes me bloated though too...which is really uncomfy. |
Diet Dew gives me stomach aches :( , but I love it. I usually drink diet coke. I just have to have it. Thought I would never get hooked into this artificial sweetener stuff, but here I am. |
I use to drink gallons of diet coke. Then I discovered that caffeine really started to bother me. It would keep me up at night if I wasn't careful about the time of day that I would be drinking it. So I decided to just start drinking water, so I now drink water most of the day. I still crave a diet coke every once in a while. |
I also drink diet 'kool aid' too. I need to hydrate allllll day long, bc I so easily dehydrate...and it's not like I want to drink 1000 calories . Love that diet kool aid too....I really dislike the taste of water. Is that weird? |

I'm addicted to Diet A&W. |
I used to drink disgusting amounts, but I am pretty sure it stimulates my appetite, which I most definitely do not need. Last year, I decided to go 4 weeks without it. I drank these instead: www.hintwater.com I was surprised at how much I craved it. After a few weeks, I thought Diet Coke was disgusting... but I still wanted one! I'd go into a store, and it would take everything I had not to get a diet Sprite. But after that, the cravings went away. I made a rule for myself that I can get one if I want, but only if I'm going to the store for something else anyway, and I always get the smallest size available. And you know what? I'm totally fine now. I have maybe one or two cans per week, sometimes not even that. |
I wish caffeine would keep me up! I sleep too much no matter what. Yes, that is kinda weird although a lot of people feel the same way. I love love love water so much. Like diet kool aid too. I should be drinking water all day because the caffeine is doing me no favors, but I like to think that it helps me get through the day. |
Uh oh, I'll have to try A&W now. lol I don't crave it. I drink it when I'm stressed or tired or for no reason whatsoever. Some of it still tastes gross to me (diet fountain coke), but I drink it anyway. Now it's time for my third bowl of marshmellow cereal and QS, I'll see you back in the diet group tomorrow morning (hopefully). |
Ha ha! I just had a phenomenal chocolate chip cookie, fresh from the oven. MMMMMMMMMMM. |

No, there's a lunch place near me that bakes fresh cookies every day. :) The chips were all melty, and I dunked some pieces in milk. |
Cookie dough is fab. Even the raw eggs... I have been eating so bad lately. Starting to think I'm developing diabetes. Great fun. My sugar was not high last year and I have not been getting shaky lately and I most certainly don't have another problem that makes it likely to develop this problem... Ugh. I need a salad - and another diet soda. |
I use to be a Soda Junkie. Loved the fizz. Now I drink one every 3 months. My daughter brought home some Jarritos Pineapple Soda and that was rather tasty. |
I was a classic Coke junkie (the real stuff, not diet). Then I had an episode where we were on the road and I drank a Big Gulp on an empty stomach. Four hours left on the drive home and ulcers roared into action. That was the last time I had ANY coke. I switched to diet citrus-flavored sodas -- my current fave is Diet Mtn Dew Code Red. But I've backed way off on the amount and try to have no more than one per day. I heard that drinking sodas (regular OR diet) can lead to metabolic disorders including high cholesterol and increased risk of stroke. Can't even feel virtuous switching to diet drinks any more. |
Yes! But even worse, I used to drink the "normal" Coke. That's so evil on my tummy and totally unnecessary! I switched to diet thinking it's not bad for me, but water is the best thing for anyone. The thing is, I know this, yet I still drink diet coke and 7 up daily like it's water. Habits! |
I am way too addicted to Diet Coke and also Diet Dr. Pepper. I am drinking so much of it that it triggers migraines....wayyyyyy too much of it!! I used to use the excuse that I needed it so that I wouldn't get migraines, but when I run out and haven't had any for a few days, I notice that my migraines are less frequent. I definitely drink too much of it! :( |
MMMM, I haven't had Diet Dr. Pepper in months. That stuff is so good. I like Diet Vernors too. |
I don't drink soda because I remember in college a friend of mine was a pre med student and she told me that if you HAVE to drink soda that you should drink regular and not diet. She said that diet is really bad for you because your brain thinks you are getting regular soda and it's diet and it messes with you or something so I just stopped drinking it alltogether. |

I consume way too much diet coke. My father teases me that I should switch to beer because it would be cheaper.:p I quit once for a week and I couldn't believe how mellow I was. I felt like I was on tranquilizers. |
I'm a diet pepsi-holic. I drink ridiculous amounts and if I don't have it I get severe migraines, so I drink even more just to keep the migraines down. Quote:

Well, hate to be the bearer of bad news...I just underwent shockwave/stent surgery yesterday for a kidney stone which was analyzed to be from too much soda! Who da thunk it, eh?? Dang, my one true vice...must eliminate...but at this point I'll be glad just to reduce the consumption. |
You can also try herbal infusions, like jasmine tea. For a while, I would make a couple pitchers of tea, one with caffeine, and one without, and then ice them. Also, not to go on and on and on about it... but I really love the Hint water. You can find them at Starbucks and Whole Foods, among other places. They are really neat - they taste exactly like water, but have a very strong aftertaste of different fruits. I drank four / day when I was quitting soda. |
I am bad....I probably go through 6-8 cans a day (and no water at all).:cool: |

I just googled stones and found a list of high oxalate foods and drinks that may contribute to some kinds of stones. Some of my favorites are on the list: chocolate, spinach, and sweet potatoes. Uh oh. |
Devils Advocate.......I drink maybe one soda a month if that. They are extremely bad for you all around. Your teeth, your digestive tract, your bodies ph balance... and the list goes on and on. :( I drink tons of water, and green and herbal teas, and some crystal lite. Even more bad news.........The rule of thumb is, you take your body weight and divide it by 2, then drink that amount of water daily to flush out your system. Say you are 120 pounds, you should be drinking at least 60 fluid ounces of water daily. I know...I know ...throw your tomatoes now!:bleh: |

I go through the equivalent of 2-4 cans the majority of the time lately. But I try to get in some water too. My poor kidneys. :( I should really treat them better. |
