I didn't want to say it first, but I agree with Derby. This sounds dangerous, it's not healthy and you couldn't pay me a million dollars to do it either. I'm going to have me some chicken and veggies and then do the treadmill for 30 mins! Now THAT is healthy! :) |

And, yes, for some people creams make an inexplicable difference in weight loss. He is not promoting an eating disorder. The point of this temporary diet (with the HCG - you CAN'T do this protocol without the HCG) is to reset the hypothalamus. Anyway, I was really excited that I have not cheated and I have lost weight and I feel great and I am healthier than I have been in YEARS. But, thanks for depressing me. I thought the people here were my friends. Guess not. I would hate to think that something like this would make me not come back here. |

I just wanted to point out what this guy says as "truth". Asking you to skip 2 meals (on your already restrictied diet) if you're 2 pounds over is not what I call healthy. Letting you know that you might get low blood sugar and to carry candy around, is not healthy. Allowing you to have only as much as an apple if you're underweight, is not healthy. I don't know what this guy is selling, but I think this could cause you more severe problems later down the road. Sure the immediate return of weight loss seems great, but the way he is going about it is not healthy. I'm not saying that YOU have an eating disorder, but I really do believe that this guy has created a diet for a dramatic weight loss that is not good for you body and can create eating disorders in those who are succeptible. I really do believe that this weight loss method is not the answer to obesity. While I would love to lose 1 pound a day, I know that that is impossible on a regular HEALTHY regimen of diet and exercise unless you're like 400 pounds and on the Biggest Loser! OR have had your stomach stapled because you're obese. I don't trust this diet, and would love to see a study on long term effects. Please don't leave this site over this, but understand where we're coming from and it is merely CONCERN ABOUT YOUR HEALTH and those who are thinking of embarking in this ridiculous diet. If this diet was really doctor approved, it'd be recommended by doctors. |
Again, I'd rather have you calling me unhealthy than actually be unhealthy. I guess I'll come back in a year and post how I'm doing. |
Hey Sweetie...congrats on your weight loss. I have been obsessed with my weight since I've been about 17 yrs old. I am 5ft2in and about 108lbs. yes, it sounds great and all but I have a pear shaped body so sculpting and loosing around my toosh and thighs is always on my mind. While DerbyLane is coming off harsh and strong, she technically is being your friend by showing you HER OPINION and potential/possible harm you MIGHT be doing to your body. Don't take offense to it, just something to think about. You're a grown woman, and you can make the choices you feel is appropriate. :):) xoxoxoxox Being a vegetarian does not mean you are more healthy. I was a veggie for 15 yrs and inhaled so much cheese and more dairy that I was never as in good of shape as I am in now that I put lean poultry and very healthy fish and seafood into my diet. Don't forget--diet and exercise determine how your body will feel in the longrun. Much love- Vivian |
Wow congrats!!!! That is so awesome!!! I know someone who just started this diet last week- she lost about 5 lbs already. She said she feels great and is excited to see the results. It definitely takes a lot of will power to follow this diet! Keep it up!!! Congrats! |

First kudos on your efforts to want to lose weight and improve your health, that's always a good thing. I've never head of this diet, but honestly it scares me. 500 calories a day is just extreme and the idea of the HCG just seems so risky. Diet really is about lifestyle changes. It's about eating healthy and portion control. I think long term success in maintaining weight loss is eating the way you can eat for the rest of your life, not short term. JMO. |
Sarah, congratulation on your weight loss. I have had several friends on your diet and they did gain it all back when they stopped. Make sure you have a backup plan. I also have a friend that has lost a ton of weight on AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge She looks great and its been 8 months with no weight gain. This may be a good backup. Good luck to you and send some more pics. |
Congratulations! :DPost more photos as you lose more weight. :) Although this is a drastic diet, I know you are only planning on this 500 calorie regime as a temporary measure. Otherwise you would disappear! :pThen I assume you will just go to a balanced diet using portion control. I lost 20 lbs 2 years ago, and I am struggling to lose the last 10-15 lbs. No success yet. I am exercising, which really does help me from putting weight back on. Even if I have a week where I am not completely in control of my eating, if I continue to exercise I don't gain anything. One thing that has really helped me is packing my lunch for work. No more eating out, and it saves a lot of money too! |
I just started my hcg tonight! Totally pumped! Will let you know how it goes!!! Yaay! |

Also, just wanted to mention that I saw in a comment above "if this diet was really healthy it would be recommended by doctors!" I have had 2 look into it on my behalf and recommend it for me personally! This is not a rest of your life deal...it's 48 days and then a maintenance plan. If people can do all kinds of unhealthy things for years on end then certainly a diet that resets the hypothalamus and includes protein and veggies for 48 days is not going to kill someone! I will let you know how it goes! I am not an amateur when it comes to health, fitness and nutrition having an undergrad degree in fitness management and a PT certification! I think it's way more important for people to lose the weight than to sit around have it slowly come off to the point that they lose willpower, get discouraged and give up all together! People are way more likely to stick with healthy living if they can see tangible results! |
I'm doing the 48 day program! And by the way...your Catherine is gorgeous and I LOVE her name! :-) |
Ok, so what exactly is hcg? Sounds like the pregnancy hormone. How do you get it? I see the website is selling an injection kit, but states does not include hcg, so how do you get that? |
I bought mine from HCG, HCG Drops and HCG Information | Your HCG and mine are in drops that you put under your tongue! What it does is reset the hypothalamus and allows your body to burn it's own fat stores. That's the cliff notes definition and since I'm just starting it I will let walnut hill answer more! You don't need the injectables though because the drops work just as well and are half the price! And yes it the preg hormone!! :-) |
Where or how are they getting a pregnancy hormone? Do I even want to know. I could not have been more ill during my pregnancy, I don' think this is something I could take. |
True success with weight loss is behavior modification during & after weight loss. It's just my opinion, but I really do believe the faster you lose it, the faster you tend to put it back on and then some. I think that is the problem with fad diets, it seems like a quick fix, but generally doesn't have long lasting results. This just still seems very risky. I can't imagine doctors being behind this for weight loss, unless that's what they deal in. I'm not knocking anyone for wanting to lose weight, this just seems a way that is too drastic. IMO. |
Wonderful to lose the weight, you look great. But much harder to keep it off. |

Like other gonadotropins, hCG can be extracted from urine or by genetic modification. Pregnyl, Follutein, Profasi, and Novarel use the former method, derived from the urine of pregnant women. Ovidrel, on the other hand, is a product of recombinant DNA. I get my hcg in the injectible form - you can either get a prescription from your doctor or buy it online. It also comes in a homeopathic form (no prescription needed) - it can either be sublingual (under the tongue) or injectible. I get my hcg now from Prescription Medicines - Prescription Drugs & Medicines, Indian online pharmacy for all type of generic drugs I have done well thus far keeping the wight off, and, I am joining a Roller Derby team! :) I have always wanted to, and now that I have lost 20+ pounds, I feel like I can do it! :) I have started practicing and am getting quite a work-out! :) |
Pics 2 Attachment(s) Just for fun :) The first pic is me from like a week ago and the second one is from April3rd, my daughter's birthday party (not at all flattering) LOL |
And, I am not suggesting that anyone else do this diet - it is definitely something that each person would need to speak with their doctor about. But, for me, it is working and I am very happy and healthier than I have been in years. So, FOR ME this diet has been like a miracle. But, it certainly isn't for everyone and it should be done under the care of a physician. |

A true vegan will not eat anything made from cows milk nor will they drink cows milk. They instead consume soy milk/cheeses or almond milk. They also will not eat eggs. I think many times people think just because they don't eat red meat or red meat and poulty, that they are being vegetarians. They are, to a degree. But a true vegan will not eat dairy products. I'm willing to bet if you go back to that style of eating but omit the dairy products, you may find it a more healthier vegan version and feel much better than when you attempted a vegan lifestyle while still consuming dairy products. With that said, I still believe that it comes down to basic math. 3,500 kcal = 1 lb. Therefore, calories in vs calories out. That's the best way to weight loss. |

I am interested in side effects ladies. Were you STARVING during the 1st week?? How do the drops taste? Did you get moody, craving food??? :)- Viv |

A vegetarian will not eat meat or poultry but MIGHT consume eggs and dairy. It is what they choose to eat in the eggs/dairy line that separates VEGETARIANS. However, I was not incorrect in a vegan lifestyle. There is NO ANIMAL PRODUCTS whatsoever. Once again, my apologies for ONE word being miserpresented. |

My first week I was mentally hungry - I am used to snacking all the time. Physically, not hungry at all. I did have headaches the first week - no sodas or sugars was hard on me. I don't know how the drops taste because I did the shots, which didn't hurt. :) |

I don't see how this is changing what you eat or the way you look at food either though? I don't mean while you are losing the weight, but afterwards and for the rest of your life? Losing weight and keeping it off is about behavior modification & portion control, IMO. |
