Granddogs Missing!!
 
Please say a prayer for my granddogs Dixie and Cowboy. They are Blue Heelers and have been together since they were puppies and are very bonded. They escaped their locked fenced back yard Saturday evening. The stupid neighborhood had fireworks non stop every night since the 4th and the were so scared they bent a locked chain link gate and escaped.
My son and his wife have been searching non stop and putting up fliers all over town. We have posted on several local FB pages as well as our own personal pages.
As of this morning they haven't been spotted by anyone. We have also contacted the local shelter and animal control with no luck.
Kerra and the entire family are just heartbroken over this. I wish fireworks would be banned period!!!

OH no this is so very sad. I pray that Dixie and Cowboy are found and returned home.

Have them also contact all the Vet's in the area and let them know. Also if they are microchipped have them call the Microchip company and report them as being lost.

I am so sorry, Michelle!! Praying that these babies are found safe and sound soon.

And, I agree...other than "out in a big field or on a river" by pros..I say ban fireworks. We don't need these things going off right in our neighborhood. :(

I know you are so heartbroken, but don't ever give up hope. I truly hope they will be found very soon.

Oh, sorry to hear this. The poor things were so terrified out there in the back I guess they just bolted. Hopefully when the sound stopped, they stopped running and have found places to hide during the day. I'll pray the two show up soon and a responsible person will help them get home by getting them scanned and make that call.

I rescue dogs that are running around if they are not going to bite me. If I saw a poster up I would graciously return the dogs. Put up posters with pictures if you can. I bet someone rescued the dogs to keep them safe. I pray you find them. Do not give up. Say a little prayer and ask the Lord for His help. Then keep looking. So sad to lose friends. Darn fireworks I wish they would outlaw them. So scary for the animals.

We have posters up with their pics and have posted on FB and contacted all the vet offices,animal control and the local shelter. We had one person last Saturday who said they think it was them they spotted in the area of their home. No luck at all. We have several family pets in our town missing right now. It's horrible and they caught one lady who was stealing dogs and selling them.

Just seeing this:( I hope they find their way back home...or someone recognizes them. I loathe fireworks too, they've been setting it off a month b4 July, every night here...it has just died down & none went off tonight TG.

No Judy they aren't..around here not many dogs are. Mine aren't either but I have always said they are never outside. I know I need to have it done.

A high school friend of mine lost his Aussie Dec 31, 2010 due to fireworks. He still holds out hope that one day he will return and friends still post on FB any "found Austrailian Shepard" notices they find. His lost dog poster is still his avatar on fb...I can only imagine the despair... I hope they return! Don't give up hope, ever!
Note: I finally just got Huey chipped last month after almost 4 years of "should do that"...I feel a little better about his chances of return if he ever did get lost, but I am determined to never let that happen!

Michelle, I am sorry that I am just seeing your thread now. My heart goes out to your family. I am very sorry that Dixie and Cowboy have not been found yet. Praying for their safe return.

I was hoping the dogs would be found. It is time all of us pray for their safe return. There is power in prayer. Check the computer site where they list lost dogs. I hope someone picked them up and are waiting to return them. There are kind animal loving people out there. We have craigs list here to post lost dogs on. Try something like that. Check those shelters daily. I would also post in the local dog stores like Petsmart and Petco. Many people go through those stores and may have seen them. I sincerely hope you find them soon.

There has been no more sightings since the one last week and we aren't even sure if it was them. I have a friend who works at the local shelter and she keeps me updated and so far nothing. My DIL is a vet tech here but even though she is on maternity leave she knows all the local vets and has been in contact with them too.
We are a very rural community and there are no pet stores here. The closest one is 50 miles away.
We are just hoping someone has them and is taking care of them. I hate to think they are out there all alone.
Please do keep praying because we have given up hope of ever finding them.

Just seeing this now... OMGosh poor babies... I hope they make their way home soon. Praying for them and you all too! How heartbreaking..

Oh no, I hope they find them. :(

My uncle had a lab who was deathly terrified of fireworks, and they finally thought the fireworks were over and let their dog go pee, well she got loose and ran so hard and so far, she actually had a heart attack. They found her down near a neighbors house who said they saw her suffering and then just died. Very sad.
