English bulldogs anyone??
 

I am looking into the english bulldog. Was wondering if any yorkie people owned english bulldogs too. If you have experience with this breed let me know. Thanks Tammy

My friend has a mini English Bulldog....Teddi loves her and always tries to lick her but I would never trust them alone together. The bulldog uses her body and body slams Teddi when we are at my friends house and tries to push her into the couch and stuff. I don't think they know their own strength!! Here is a picture of Teddi and her friend Ziggy. I feel bad that I can't watch my friends dog for her but I would not trust them alone during the day. I feel like Ziggy would crush Teddi on accident.

My friend has one...he's cute. None of my dogs like Lambert though.

I do know...english bulldogs do not do well in hot weather. They are very sensitive to it. Lambert spends the majority of his summer...inside the house.

Bullies can be very sweet but they do play ruff. I had one that used to hold my kittens down between her front paws and lick their head until they were soaked. She also did this to my rabbit one time and it died of shock. They are wonderful dogs but I would be afraid to have one with a small yorkie.

They are always passing gas, snoring, slurping, shaking their heads to release all the slobber that buids up in their loose cheeks and the slobber goes EVERYWHERE. They shed like the dickens and don't seem to like doing anything except what THEY want to do and that makes training very difficult if at all. My uncle had one that I had to walk each day and I was always getting pulled down. I spent years with skinned elbows and knees. :(

I will say bulldogs aren't very puppyish....Lambert is less than 2 and more like a lug.

I think they are really cute dogs and my hubby wanted one but I started to sneak in the Yorkies!!!! So he says we now have enough...LOL

I hated that dog. I think because he had no manners or training and I was the one made to walk her every day. She was such a nasty dog with her extremly loud and horribly smelly gas, loud snorts and snores that kept you awake most nights and always slinging spit everywhere. No thank you.......I just can't over those years of horror. I was in grade school and I still haven't changed my mind about that breed of dog.

Every thing you said is true!! I used to have one. I bathed her every week, cleaned out her stinky face wrinkles, wiped her slobbery mouth with a cloth...AND SHE STILL SMELLED AWFUL!! I even VACUUMED her every day (seriously) and she shed worse than a cheap fur coat:p She was a sweetheart, but oh, so dumb. I don't mean this to offend, but this was my experience:D

You guys are killing me here....ya'll have no idea.

Hoo boy...I don't want to vacuum my house everyday...much less a dog.

Lambert has to have between his toes wiped out...each and every time he goes from outside to inside. He's allergic to grass.

She WAS nice enough to let me vacuum her. In retrospect, I suppose I was a little desperate:p The last straw was when she shook her head and slung a HUGE wad of slobber all over my Christmas tree:eek:

OMG! I am in tears....literally.

I had 3 bulldogs. They are very rambunctious!! I do not believe they would purposely hurt a Yorkie, but they might accidentally step on one and hurt it. They do have ALOT of health problems, so it is VERY important to buy from a reputable breeder/exhibitor. They are the cutest puppies!! And as adults, love to be a couch potatoe. A little Christmas garland, I bet it looked beautiful glimmering in the lights. :D This thread is hilarious. Funny, I've always thought the same thing of the English Bulldog, and only had one experience with one. They are so cute in pictures, but the reality was so much different.

We recently got one and :eek: what a pain :(, he is so dumb and just puts his weight on my yorkies, I don't let them play together anymore without us being right there, he just doesn't realize how strong he is and not to mention how much he weighs. I keep telling myself he is still a puppy (4 1/2 months) he will stop playing ruff, but IDK. It wasn't me that wanted him it was my bf, he said "you have dogs why can't I have what I want" :cool:

If you have time to sit home with him/her everyday and watch every move it makes when its around your yorkie/s, then go for it, but I will tell you he poops up a storm ("minimum" 4 times a day), eats up a storm, sheds up a storm, and is dumb as a nail, literally; he walks in his own poop after he goes :tired:. My bf has to wipe his eyes, wipe around the tail, wipe between the toes and now wipe his paws because of him walking in his poop :tongue4:. Personally I think Yorkies and English bulldogs don't belong in the same house, its just too hard!

On the flip side he has the cutest face and makes you feel so sorry for him when he does something dumb or doesn't listen, lol, but I think we may train him for conformation, but there is SO much more we need to learn about this breed, but so far he fits the standard pretty darn close if not exact! I'll attatch some pics of him

I forgot to ad he breaks out from the heat and wet cement but of course he doesn't know that, so every time he goes outside what does he do>>>> knocks the water bowl over on the concrete and lays on it :rolleyes:

We had one, loved her dearly but they do have their issues. She was bathed at least once a week, ears cleaned, face folds cleaned etc. Still she was smelly at times, shedded a great deal and had breathing issues as she aged. Normally you either love them or hate them, personally I love them but wouldn't want one in my house again. Also, I would not be comfortable having one around Stella because of their size.

I had Bruno for 12 years! He was the best, sweetest, grossest dog ever!!
He wasn't neutered (per my boyfriend at the time) and yucky stuff came from yucky places. He slobbered and slung slobber all over the walls. He got yeast infections in his rolls on his face and tail and ears. He was a great dog, but very smelly! The more we tried to bathe him the more yeast infections he got! He lived a long life for a bulldog. He was very smart and a sweet boy.

Well I have a Yorkie, Maltese, English Bulldog and a Pit Bull and they all live in my house together.

Missy Crash (bulldog) is GREAT with my babies. She is almost 2 now and she is very gentle with them and lets them lay with her while she is sleeping. When I first got her we had another Yorkie and they did fine together...she wanted to play and was a little rough at first but she soon learned that she had to be gentle with the baby. Missy is 50 lbs, Jasper (Maltese) is 4 and Emme (Yorkie) is 2 lbs and I don't have any problems.

The only time she slobbers is when she is outside all day and gets hot. I have never had any problems with her slobbering....she does shed, snort, and snore. After we changed her food, the gas problems were solved so we don't see that anymore.

She is the only one of my big girls that is allowed to play with the babies freely. The Pit Bull is still only 10 months and still in that clumsy stage so she has to be supervised at all times and probably always will.

Makes me want to run out and get one!!!lol Yikes
