My long hair cat, Misty, has horrible hairballs. She was eating Taste of the Wild food. Ive been trying to switch her to Science Diet Hairball Formula. Now she's on a hunger strike or something. She won't touch it. I swear she hasn't eaten in two days. On top of that, she is bugging me all the time.

I want the hairballs to tone down. They have ruined the finish in a few spots on my brand new expensive dresser where she likes to lay.

Any ideas?

I used to mix purina hairball food with their regular cat food. I would also give them kitty malt (?) once a week. This seemed to help. I had 2 long haired persians. You can get the kitty malt from petsmart. I can't remember, but I think that is the brand name that I used. They didn't like the others. It was something like 4.99/tube.
