Question... off topic of course.. Three years ago when I moved in my house I wanted a lilac bush outside my bedroom window,, got one, it has yet to bloom? I have researched it, and it says sometimes it can take years for it to bloom the first time.. has anyone heard this before, every year I think this is it... nope, including this year..:( What should I do,,, ps- Lowes has em in their ad today on sale.... hmmmm and I have even seen small ones for sale with blooms on them! What's up with that?? |
I was just going to say I have seen little one for sale at the nursery and they alway have blooms on them. Is it like a holly bush that needs a male somewhere in the general vacinity to have berries? |

Lilac bushes can take up to 5 years to bloom. the ones in the nursery that are already in bloom are probably a shoot cut from another bush? Not sure. But I had one that stayed dormant for 3 years, I didn't know any better, so I thought it was dead. Dug it up, threw it away, and then found out it takes 5 years! Well worth the wait though, my favorite flower! Too bad they only last about 4 weeks. |
