I can't even imagine how awful it is over there! We're in Palm Desert, and the smoke got to us yesterday; it was totally "overcast" but not too much smell til last night....then, wow! The smell of smoke was like a Mack truck hit us! (for anyone not familiar with the area, we're like 120-130 miles away from LA/San Diego). It's not just the smoke; it's all that junk that burned (draperies, furniture, tires, and heaven only knows what) that's in the air right now that's the real danger to humans and animals. Today it's very smoky here again. My heart goes out to everyone over there; such a loss of homes and some of the most beautiful natural resources in the world. I am on my way over to San Diego to volunteer for the Red Cross; hopefully, they'll have masks for us! I'm so glad that you and yours are safe and your home is intact! I think everyone who lives down here knows someone who has been affected by these horrible fires. Stay well..... |
4 Attachment(s) I just got these pictures e-mailed to me. I don't know where they are from, other than it's from one or more of our fires. May God Bless them all.:hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |
2 Attachment(s) Just heart breaking!!!!! |
Oh my gosh, Mustangbee! Those pictures are so breathtaking! But really so sad; esp when I think about all the animals who will be/ have been affected. It just makes me sick to think most of this was at the hands of a human being. I'm supposed to be in the car right now driving over there....and here I sit looking at pictures...yikes:eek: . One more post and I'm outta here:) . |

Corinne~ I'm sorry, I meant to ask, what kind of cell phone do you have that takes such clear photos??? That's awesome! Is it an iPhone? |

The fire here in town was set by a power line. I don't think I would be able to sit still if I found out someone set it. May God Bless All Families.:hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |
Thanks so much for sharing those pictures with all of us. I feel so...bad for all you's that live anywhere near the fire 's. :( Stay safe and know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. |
Gina and Corinne, those pictures are just amazing, beautiful and at the same time, so very sad, considering their source. I am so happy you are both okay. Even here in Yorba Linda, the air was horrible this week; my throat feels kind of "thick" from all the particles in the air. Everything in my yard was covered in ash. Corinne, I cannot believe how bad the fires still are in Santiago Canyon. It's very overcast by me this morning, and I just pray that it rains. Hugs to all of you that have gone through a terrible ordeal this past week,:ghug: Lauren |
Some of those pictures are just unreal.:( To see that wall of smoke and fire right on top of all those houses is mind boggling. The situation as a whole is beyond what my mind can comprehend--that there are some fires burning that they can't put out--sounds simple. It's bigger than what I can grasp. M. |
Mustangbee....those are from the 2003 fires. Minus the 4th one in the first pic. |

They said our fire (Harris) will be out by Nov.2nd, not sure how they can date a fire. After last night's merge, the Witch Creek fire will take longer. :2hearts2: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :2hearts2: |

Hmmm Not sure where they came from, they were e-mailed to me this morning with 2007 Wildfires |
Some my dad just sent me of the Fires up in Arrowhead area.... 3 Attachment(s) Or, San Bernardino Mountains. Still far from his home, but...nerve wracking none the less. |
Unbelievable pictures! Everyone in that area is in our prayers! What horrible destruction. I hope your family is safe! |
It really sucks, because soon it will be the rainy season. After all these fires and lack of vegitation, the areas will be having a lot of flash floods this winter. :( |
