what a major(excuse my french) B*tch. Seriously.. i hate rude people like that.. what the heck?! do they not even think before they speak or what? ..and you being the nice lady you are-laugh and make an excuse for HER ignorance. im sorry she hurt your feelings!! you should call and complain.. just say you had a rude nurse. that way she wont know who you are.. because i think that is NOT ok. very rude..especially the way she said it!! |
I am so glad that you are going to tell your dr. what happened. I am so fortunate to have a dr. that takes care of things like that immediately....be it a patient or one of his employees. I am like you though and think of lots of things to say after the fact. My daughter is blessed with quick comebacks...but she didn't get it from me:D It really makes me upset when people tell me I have to lose weight....like I don't know how much I weigh and what I look like and that I have gained LOTS. |
It's not too late to have that nurse's JOB:mad: WTF was she thinking?!?!?! BIG hugs to you:girl_hug: Definitely let that doc know, in writing, about his rude-ass nurse. She's a witch! |
Well I called and left a message for my dr to call me back - which he finally did. I managed to get the story out without turning into a sobbing mess - again. His response was that 1) I wasn't the first patient to complain about her and that 2) unless I was dying right there in front of her, any of my health issues, weight or otherwise, were none of her business or concern. He apologized several times for what she said, seemed as though he was every bit as pissed off as I am, and informed me that she would absolutely be dealt with. He did not elaborate on HOW. I am torn between desperately wanting to hurry and lose the weight and get back in shape so no one can ever call me names again, and in being semi-ok in the weight I am now. My biggest fear happened - someone called me fat, to my face, in public. I SURVIVED it. It hurt, and it made me madder than hell, but it didn't kill me. But still, I don't think I ever want it to happen again. |

I'm glad you reported her to the doctor. No one should ever say anything like that and get away with it, especially at a doctor's office. As for wanting to lose the weight, only do it for the right reasons. For you health or because you actually want to do it for yourself. Don't just do it because of what other people may think of you. Because that would be for all the wrong reasons. :) |
That nurse was completely out of line! I would call the doctor and tell him/her what happened. He needs to know and I'm sure he does not want to lose a patient because of the rudeness and unprofessionalism of his nurse. I'd want to know if I was the doctor. I'm really sorry you had to go through that, I would be upset too if it happened to me. Try not to let it get to you, it's a reflection of her, not of you. |
I am so glad you told the doctor. If he knows he has trouble with this nurse and you are not the first to complain, he needs to get rid of her. Otherwise it will hurt his practice. I'm sure he doesn't want to lose patients because of an obnoxious nurse!!! I am still in shock that anyone would ever say that!!!! That is a complete thoughtless, hurtful, and uncalled for thing to say (and I'm being nice here.....) I am so sorry you had to endure that! I hope it gets resolved. |

There are worse things that BEING FAT. Being MEAN is one of them:( . On the other hand, you should (not just YOU, but we ALL should) realize that we only get this ONE life and you don't get to do it over. Lose the weight because you respect and love yourself (b/c you DO DESERVE it) and want to be healthy; not for other people's reaction to you. But you know that. Take it one step at a time. You CAN do it. And if you feel overwhelmed....keep in mind that it's not easy for ANYONE to do anything out of their comfort zone; regardless of how easy they make it look. We're usually on the outside looking in or we see someone every 3-6 months and one month we see them, they're fat....the next time we see them, they've lost a lot of weight..simple, huh? Well, at least to US it looked that way. I know b/c I've been there; you just have to COMMIT and care about YOU enough to stay committed. Like Nike says "Just do it!"...wishing and hoping and talking about it won't work, darn it all (oh, I know that too, b/c I tried it for the LONGEST time;) ). |
I am glad your Dr. called you back but I'm afraid if it were me and she is still there after he told you others had reported her too, I would look for another Dr. JMHO |
Good for you. You not only did it for yourself but for all the other patients she has or will probably say that to. :bravo: |

Good job!! Now since your not the first to complain i hope she gets fired.... i dont think you need to be in a hurry to lose weight.. just take your time i know that you have been under a lot of stress.. so dont rush into it or it will make you more stressed out!! Good luck!! |
I hope she gets fired too. I also hope she learns to treat ALL people with a lot more respect and kindness. |
I am glad (I guess) to hear that this wasn't the first time she has said/done something out of line............that means, that maybe something will get done about it. Way to go! |
I am glad that you reported her. She had no right, is not her job to do that and what makes her so special to say any comments besides she acted very un-professional:) Don't be mad, stay with your doctor and whenever you ready you would loose the pounds, We as individuals must be willing not when others are forcing us or making idiotic comments like that:) My Prayers are with you and don't let her bother you |
We can always lose weight..but that nurse is mean to the bone, that lasts forever..! |
OMG, that is just inexcusable. Yes, it is the DOCTOR'S responsibility to talk to patients about being at a healthy weight, but for her to say that to you is just hugely disrespectful and an overstep of her boundaries. I've gained a lot of weight too this year due to some similar reasons and I feel so bad for you. I know how terrible I feel even when the dr's are being nice regarding my weight, I can't imagine how I would feel if someone said that to me. I would definitely tell the dr and get that nurse in trouble. She needs to seriously reconsider what she says. |
:( I would be made and upset too! She had no right to say that to you! :thumbdown She hasn't a clue what goes on in your life to make a judgement like that. I would have not had nice words to say back to her. |

good-im glad you talked with the doctor!! And it didnt surprise me when you said you werent the first to complain about her.. Some people just dont get it(their rude/blunt inappropriate comments!!) which is really unfortunate, but what are we gonna do!!? haha. i am glad that you were able to not let it "kill you"/affect you(which you really SHOULDNT!!-look who was saying it.. ;)) plus maybe it let you see that you want to start putting yourself first..and be healthy for YOU(and not anyone else). And you are able to decide what that is..emotionally or physically. Hope you are feeling a little better after talking to your doctor. Some people are so annoying and ridiculous(but sometimes its hard to see that, when they say something that hurts you!!).. so its nice to see the perspective and response from others!! Enjoy your week.. XO.:) |
I am a nurse, and I'm tellin' you...I am SO furious right now! I don't even have words to express how pissed I am. I REALLY hope you are going to call the nurse supervisor AND the doctor to inform them of this. If not, PM me the phone number and I'll call them FOR you. 100% UNacceptable and I am so sorry you experienced this. HUGS. |

Your weight is your business, and only your business....I don't know why people think making bold, unsolicited, rude, comments on a persons weight is acceptable....Maybe a "Thank you for pointing that out." is in order, without the smile.... |
