Here's one....

In the basement there are 3 light switches in the off position. Each switch controls 1 of 3 light bulbs on the floor above. You may move any of the switches, but you may only go up stairs one time. How can you determine which switch controls each light?

I remember that one from along time ago. hummmmm

I think you turn #1 on for a minute and turn it off and then turn #2 on. One will be hot, one will be on and one will be cold.

Turn any switch "ON" for 5 minutes, then turn that switch off & quickly turn on 1 of the others "ON".

go back upstairs and touch the 2 lights that were "OFF"...
One of them will be hot b/c it was on for 5 minutes ...

Then you can see that the HOT bulb was controlled by the first swtich you turned "ON" ...

the light that is now on, is controlled by the last switch you turned "ON" ...


The COLD bulb that is "OFF" is controlled by the only switch left ...

New Math Riddle (The washing machine)
 
:icon5:The Smiths' washing machine is old. It is so inefficient that it uses $40 more electricity each month than a new washing machine would use.
The Smiths are thinking about buying a new washing machine for $1250.

If the Smiths buy the new washing machine, how many months will it take for the savings on their energy bill to equal the cost of the new washing machine?:icon5:

Hey when Monday's came up I didn't think it was as easy as that. I got 31 and 1/4 months too but I thought it might be a riddle and there had to be more to it. So if that is the answer and since you got two in a row you get a prize even tho prize was only for the first one. We don't even know if the light switch one was right yet and hahaha.

lol... I was thinking about this thread while skipping up the stairs and missed a step. I landed on my knees then I dropped down the next step... I had to look around to make sure nobody saw... I had to laugh at myself...
