Job: If you had to choose...

Today I got a job interview at a doggy daycare. I would be working part time and making about 8 bucks an hour. But, I would be playing with dogs all day, and would be able to take my own dogs once I get a feel for the place. I have also been offered a position as a teleservice representative taking customer service calls and making 11 bucks an hour. I would be sitting on my butt all day and talking on the phone a lot. So, which would you choose? Less money to play with dogs all day, or more money to talk on the phone to people all day?

i've thought about this too. i would like to work at a doggie daycare but there is no way for me to survive on $8 an hour.

If your not depending on your own salary and you have other means to pay bills then i say go for it.

Yeah, I am in a two income home, my BF makes the big bucks

I can afford to take less pay, especially since I do other things to make money, like sell on eBay and teach voice lessons.

I used to be a customer serv rep, and you couldn't pay me enough to go back to that job. Listening to people gripe is one thing, but when you really take the time to help customers then your supervisors are getting on to you because of call times. (VERY STRESSFUL JOB.) If you can make it on the
$8/hr job, I'd do that. You will be sooooo much happier!!!

Yeah, I am a doggie fanatic. Big or small, I LOVE THEM ALL!!!

I have a "working interview" tomorrow where I get to go there and work for two hours. I have never been more excited about an interview!!!

yea I just LOVE animals, especially dogs. My mom has even told me stories about how when I was little and our teacher would tell us to draw someone we love, I would always draw my pets

I used to work in a telemarketing center, and I loved it. People have a hard time getting under my skin. But I am a singer, and it wears my voice out a lot to talk on the phone all day. I had to go through speech therapy after the last time I did it. Glad you pm'd me

I always had cats when I was little. We couldn't have dogs because we lived in the country but close to a highway, so we lost a few dogs before I was born. Too much heartache for my family, so we just had TONS of farm cats. Probably 20 or more at a time at all times.

Really the complaining from customers didn't bother me....it was the fact that I couldn't really do anything. I worked for an insurance company. And when people would call in "well what do you mean you thats not covered" I just felt bad. Esp when older members would call in about rx meds they needed or parents would call in about their kids....

Oh, how lucky are you then - to do the thing we all wish we could do. Take the $8 job and let us live through you!!!! Please!!!

Yes, you are totally right that the BF wants me to do something that makes me happy. I haven't been working for a year because he has been so supportive of me focusing on school and moving to TX.

Doggy Daycare it is!
