We found a home for Sam, guinea pig!! 2 Attachment(s) Hi all! Sam is the guinea that hubby found at the lake last week (someone had just left him there in a shoebox :( ). He's been battling a skin infection and mites, but is doing a lot better! We took him to a vet yesterday who will be fostering him until he is all better and hopefully he'll then go to a great home, unless she decides to keep him! :) Though he was only with us a week, he had started to become a part of the family. I know hubby misses him a lot, but we have 2 cats and the 2 yorkie babies, so we really couldn't keep him. Thanks to all for the support and help! Here are a few pics of Sam. |
hes a cutie. Glad that hes doing better. |
Awww what a cutie! I still can't believe someone just dumped him out like they did. I'm glad he's getting treated for the mites and the infection. Maybe the vet will decide to keep him! |
What a cute baby. Glad he's going to his forever home. |
YAY FOR SAMMMMMM!!!! so happy this had a good ending! :) |
yay i know he'll go to a great home!! :) |
poor baby to be left like that... bless you for saving this baby! d |
Guinea pigs are very special creatures..Ive had two in my life and they really bond to their humans...they recognize your voice and "chatter" to you..so sweet!! Sorry that you couldnt keep him and hopefully he will find a permanent home soon :) Dawn |
Guinea pigs ALWAYS have mites, living on them in a dormant state....and then they become active (I guess you'd say?) esp. under stressful conditions. They are VERY itchy for the poor pigs, who will scratch until their hair is gone, and then keep scratching themselves into bloody shreds. I have seen some horrible horrible pictures. Can you imagine what would have happened to poor little Sam if you hadn't rescued him, and gotten the care he needed?! Death by a wild animal would have been preferrable. He's adorable, and I hope that he finds a loving home! PS...their little chirping sounds are my FAVORITE thing about them! :) |
Sam is such a cutie!! I'm glad you and your hubby found him. |
Thank you all so much for all your help and support with little Sam! He will be staying with this vet for at least another month, until his skin clears up and then hopefully he'll find a great home with other guineas. I can tell hubby misses him, he is such a softie when it comes to animals. ;) One of the things I love most about him! I'll keep you all updated. Who knows, Sam might just be coming back to our house! :D We were so lucky to find a local rescue for rodents. They have been extremely helpful. |
