My parents went, and they brought me back a cuckoo clock and a Hummel.:)

Well i would have a big list, but most are allot more then what you are willing to spend :rolleyes: When i was home 3yrs ago, we went to Rothenburg auf der Tauber which is about 10 miles from my Hometown, and there the city center has Xmas shops yr around with everything you could imaging.. there is tons of xmas ornaments hand carved of wood and painted. Beersteins is good, German Coffee is good also ! Wished i would of had a bigger Pocketbook :eek:

Where are you going? We spent a week in Wiesbaden and then spent a night in Titisee, where we bought our cuckoo clocks. Loved it.
We are in darmstadt. We just came back from eatting in wiesbaden today. There is a place called brauhaus castel there. ITS OH SOO GOOD :p

The crystal was prob very reasonable at one time.. but the euro is WAY higher then the USD... so its prob the same as getting it back home if not more...

find one of the markets they have or something crafty. You'll find something unique and specific to Germany.

Is Drake Kaserne still open?

I am not too sure if its still open or not... they have been closing A LOT of things lately here... so it might not be.

I'm getting hungry for some potato salad now!

Ironically, I told my hubby I wanted a genuine Black Forest clock for Christmas! (maybe I'll get one if I find the pickle) Had to explain it to him so I don't end up with a Swiss Chalet!:rolleyes:

What town is it in? I tried doing a mapquest search and I guess there is more then one town named Rothenburg. We are in darmstadt... do you know how far of a drive it is from there??

I cant believe they have a all year round one here. I love the xmas markets!!

I don't know why I didn't think of that! We still have the "pickle hunt" every year at my parents' house and my sister and I do it with our own kids now. Of course, if you're not familar with that German custom, it wouldn't mean as much.

You could also think about taking as many new Levi's over there as possible because you can make enough off of them to actually pay for your trip. I have a German friend who does this every years.

Ok did a google search and it came right up, put in :
Rothenburg o.d. Tauber
Ask your Hubby if he heard of Illesheim before, it was a big Army Post, its still being used by Helicopters, least when i was back. Thats where i met the kid's Dad. Its only a few miles from there.
Rothenburg i believe is the oldest town in Germany where it still has a stone wall around the town you can walk on. Town center is realy awsome and the Xmas shops all around, could of went nuts there ! Let me know if i can be any more help !:D

Well, I meant take me with you when they build a bridge there. :rolleyes: But definately PM me the site...I'm always up for new recipes! Bought a recipe book from Epcot when I was there in Aug, but have not tried any yet. :( Hubby is not to fond of German cookin\' unless it is Tante Helen\'s red velvet cake!:p
