I'm really nervous.....
 

I start school again on Thursday...and I'm really nervous. I'm going to be a freshman in high school. I've been with the same 77 kids in my grade for the last 9 years of my life - and in some cases 11 years. I was accepted into a different high school than everyone else for a performing arts program - so I'll go going there. So I'm really excited. But I'm also really nervous. This will be my first year riding a bus to school and I won't know anyone. I've been trying to act all cool like "It's no big deal" blah blah blah, but the truth is I've never been so scared in my life. I just want to go back to 8th grade and I never want to leave. =/ :(

Aww Megan - thats how Jess (my niece felt) - She started HS this year as well. She was scared of riding the bus for the first time as well but soon figured out this was a PERFECT time to make new friends and started chatting away! You guys are all going to the same place every day so you at least got that common ground to start with:p


Its going to be great - HS can be some of the best years! Just think after you get over the 1st day jitters - it'll be a piece of cake!

Ahhhh Megan...bless your heart! You have such an outgoing personality that everyone will welcome you with open arms. Keep in mind that some of the others may be feeling nervous too! You'll do great...no doubt in my mind! Best wishes, sweetie!

You'll enjoy it sooo much, I promise! I was in the exact same situation when I started high school, and know I look back on it with really fond memories. I loved high school, even though I started without knowing anyone...and on top of that I was soooo shy. ;)

Megan - you know weven us "old people" want to stay comfortable and are afraid of the unknown. But if you can get the courage to close your eyes and jump right in, your talent will shine right through. You are such a sweet girl, how could everyone else not love you right away??????

Good Morning Megan, I just saw this now and wanted to post a special good wish to you although I do have that day on my calendar to send you a special pm.

You have received such an honor to be accepted into the this school and although the first couple days will seem different because you think of yourself as shy BUT look at all you will have in common with these new kids that you did not at your previous schools. You are leaving your comfort zone and that can be scary but most will be overwhelmed too so why don't you reach out to them and introduce yourself and in a few days your lovely personality will shine forth and you will have many friends thanking you for helping them though this first or second day. You're going to be fine, and being that it's a special school a lot of the kids will be new there, and not know anyone. You're not alone there, so go, and enjoy yourself. Sending prayers to you.

I bet your going to love your new school once you are not so new. Just have fun. High school years go by so fast

Megan, you are going to do just fine. That is part of growing up, I remember when you first started middle school, you are growing up too fast. Lot's of luck in your new school and this school year. How is your mom?

Megan-What a new adventure for you and how exciting. I can understand your fears but I have great faith in you. Over the years with my company I have moved every 3/4 years and am sent to new cities all the time to live. It was always a little scary to arrive in a new town with no friends or family and didn't even know where north, south, east or west was.:confused: I learned to look at it as a new adventure and how wonderful that I could meet new people and have new experiences. I saw places, ate wonderful new foods :p and made new friends that I never would have gotten to do if I hadn't moved so often.

Just remember the first time you came on YT and I bet you were a little frightened to post the first time and now look at you. Just think if you hadn't taken that first step you wouldn't have made some many wonderful friends here on YT.

Your world is now going to get bigger and you will love the performing arts portion of it. Wow - to be around other kids that are creative and enjoying some of the same things you do will just open up your world.

I can't wait to hear about all the new things you will get to experience and learn about.

Thank you guys for all of your posts and support. I'm absolulty dreading the first day and I feel soo sick from worry and anxiety and everything. I've heard way too many people say that they wouldn't relive their high school years for a million dollars....:(

Don't worry. You will do great and you will like it. High school is fun :)

I am sorry you are feeling nervous and are worried. Its great that you got in that school. It will be hard to have to make all new friends, but I am sure after you get there and make some new friends, you will love this school. that is really cool that you got into a school for performing arts, though. As someone else said already in this thread, you know you have a common interest with all the new students.

Megan, I wish there was something I could say to relax you, it really is going to be a wonderful time....you will be in your element and mostly YOU ARE MEGAN S.

Megan my son started high school last week and he was super nervos going to a huge school. He said he didn't get lost on his first day and also I had warned him of senior pranks on the newbies. He really likes his new school and is looking forward to new friends as his classes don't have any of any friends in them which can be a good thing and a bad thing.

I know you will do fine! Can't wait to hear an update on the big day!

I'm pulling myself together for the first day. I'm still nervous, but I'm better. Whatever is supposed to happen will happen, and all I can do is go with it. :)

In the meantime, I'm going to see a Donny Osmond concert today (might as well let summer go out with a bang lol). then tomorrow my friends and i are going back to our old school to say hi to our teachers (tomorrow is their first day, I'm the only one who starts Thursday. ha.ha.)

Now that's the way to think and what a great way to end the summer. I think I heard his sis is going to be on "Dancing with the Stars"

don't be nervous, when i started it two years ago, i didn't know anyone either. it was scary, but you meet people and make new friends. now, i don't know i could have ever been so nervous:rolleyes:

It IS exciting and scary at first! But you will do great! You'll meet tons of new people with the same interests as you with it being a specialized school! I bet you there are a lot of people right now just as nervous about tomorrow as you are! :)

Hi Megan. I don't know you but I've seen some of your posts and you appear to be a sweet young lady.

You will have soooo much fun in high school. The wigglies will leave your tummy eventually and the adventure of it will become exciting if you just let it.

Best of luck with your classes and with making new friends and setting more goals and just finding who that girl inside you really is.

I remember my first day of my freshman year. I was pacing back and forth at the bus stop... then I fell down the stairs... aaaaaand walked in the wrong class. It may sound like a disaster, but when it comes down to it, none of those little glitches ever matter. I laugh about it now! Enjoy it! HS can be an amazing experience if you let it.

You'll be nervous when you walk in, but by the end of the day you'll feel like a big and bad super-cool freshman!
