2 years ago we bought each of our kids an HP laptop. My son has had zero problems with his. My daughter's has been in twice for repairs. When we sent it to HP it took two months and a hundred phone calls to get it back. The hard drive was bad and they had to replace it. Then, the CD drive broke and we took it to a local shop to fix it. We've so far paid as much to get that one fixed as we originally paid for it. So? Who knows, I guess hers is just a lemon. |
I have the 17" widescreen. It's fine but a bit cumbersome. Fortunately, I don't carry it around too often. I bought mine in december at best buy. it was on sale. I haven't had technical difficulties but I had to send it to hp for a new screen because it fell off my table and the frame around the screen was coming apart. I received a box from HP, sent it to them, had it repaired and received it within 5 days! |
I was thinking about getting a 17 " screen. Do you think its too big? Should I go 14 to 15? |

I have a 17 inch and it can be a bit awkward at times. If you want a 17 inch to keep on a desk then it's ok. |
Thanks everyone! I decided to go with a 15.4 :) I hope its big enough!!! |
We have a HP laptop. We love it. We take it on the road all the time. Have a wireless card. When at home, we have a mounting system that we snap it to and can use the 19" inch monitor and keyboard. We have Dells for all three of our daughters that are in college. Have not had a problem with any of them. My desktop is a Dell also..... But back to the subject. This is our third HP in 9 years and we are very pleased. |

HP and Compaq merged a while ago ... I had a HP desktop ... I rarely use that and love my Dell lap top much more. ... I think they are all made by the same company and have different names slapped on them .... it all depends what you put in it (OS, DD, GHz, RAM, etc) |

get a 802.11g/b Wireless PCMCIA --- IF your laptop does not have an internal wireless card .... |
