| Can someone tell me if this is a scam? (not dog related) So I posted an advertising on Facebook for books I'm selling and I've done it before where I met up with the person on campus and they gave me cash while I handed them the book... but this guy is saying he can only give checks? So I was asking if we are going to meet up then why not cash.. then he said we aren't meeting up.. I don't think he is from my school ( I allowed other schools to view the books I am selling).. and in the last email he sent me he wrote this and how he wants to do it through western union. I keep asking him WHICH BOOK DO YOU WANT.. and he keeps saying "book" without the name which is weird.. Also I offered to send him the books to HIS address if he sends me the $ thru paypal but he said this instead.. (why am i now having to give out MY address instead of him giving me HIS??) He wrote: Thanks so much for the prompt response...I'm okay with the price of the item. The certified check or personal check that will be issue and mailout to you will be enough to handle the transaction.Money for the item, also $30.00 for taking your time and your effort to wire the rest of the funds via Western Union to the shipper information that will be enclosed with the payment. As for the pick up of the item, you do not need to be worried yourself about the shipment as there is a shipper that will be coming over for pick up of the item from you becos i still have many Items which the shipper will be picking up for me. ALL WHT I JUST NEED FROM YOU IS TO TRUST YOU WITH THE MONEY! Response to the question bellow: 1.Can i trust you with the money? 2 Will you be available when the shipper will be coming over for the pick up of the item? 3.Can you wire the rest of the funds to the shipper the same day you recieved and cashed the check? If so kindly get back to me with your full name and address, also with a valid cell phone number for immediately isssuing of the check. Cheer. Last edited by Catrina; 08-30-2007 at 10:58 AM. |

| That sounds like a scam to me. It's probably one of those mass e-mailings that they send out to people who post items for sale on various websites. I wouldn't take the chance. Anything that has you paying money isn't worth the chance.

| I thinkits a scam its funny how every scammer uses the same lines and words and they way they type etc be wary stick local and stick to someone at school or someone who can meet you in public etc and cash is best there is a lady going around now our online craigslist and asking t pay in checks and she is paying in checks and they are all from fake accounts, and so be careful checks are bad scammers are bad uhhhh makes me mad

| I agree with everyone else, scam...follow your gut it's usually right, and if your wrong, so what....better to be safe than sorry....just tell him your not comfortable with this transaction and you would rather not to business with him and thanks and goodbye.....
