My hair feels like hay! This is the first time in my life that my hair has been so long, I'd really like to keep it long for a while more but it is so dry. :( I have curly hair, Any thoughts on what I can put on it to make it healthier. Thanks! |
You can put some Cowboy Magic on your hair to put in some oils. Also you could do vo5 hot oil treatment if you feel funny about using the cowboy magic. |
I have curly, dry, frizzy, long hair, and I use Redken Fresh Curls shampoo and conditioner, and I really like it. Just a thought....:D Good luck  |

I bought products called Alter Ego. They are PRICEY (I couldnt believe I bought them) but the hairdresser was my friends mom so I didnt feel like she was upselling to me at all. They were $25/each. But the bottles are HUGE. I am not sure where the product is from, there is NO english on the bottles. Also regular hair cuts helps a lot with this. Here is the link to Alter Ego products http://www.ibeautyny.com/goods_detail.asp?goodsIdx=3638 - shampoo http://www.ibeautyny.com/goods_detail.asp?goodsIdx=3639 - conditioner Oh Ive also been told .. if you blow dry or flat iron (which I do) use something in your hair, dont do it with nothing in your hair... get a product that coats your hair and protects it from heat damage... and LASTLY.... Ive heard this a bunch of times in the past... products like paul mitchell from a drug store are not as good as buying from a salon. Salons do not pre-purchase tons of product. When they run low they buy more. It has more of the active ingredient and is healthier for your hair. Drugstores can buy a year or more supply of products and they just sit in a room that is hot & cold & hot & cold year round, causing the deactivation of the active ingredients. Also age of products affects the active ingredients. So buy from a salon. :) Good Luck!! :) |
I use Biosilk Fruit Cocktail conditioner, it works like a charm. I use it about one every 2 weeks. |
read the ingredient list of your shampoo. i find infusium works for me and the 2nd ingredient listed isn't some form of alcohol. i know that pantene, herbal ess, and finesse have alcohol listed. (i like the pantene conditioners tho) also, are you getting enough fatty oils in your diet? i know that sounds crazy, but it could help!! |
i guess we should ask what sort of products you ARE using and how long have you been using them? we can start at the top :) |
oh yeah and if you can get away with it, wash your hair only every other day if not longer (I can get away with only washing 2x a week thats how dry my hair and scalp are) but when it starts to get greasy run your fingers through it a lot... let the grease & oil (natural) coat your hair all the way down for a day before you wash. I know that sounds gross, but its like natures conditioner! I promise it works! :) |

Lol! I am soooo just kidding! :D I already try to wait as long as I can between shampooing, but I'll try that oil trick. |
When my hair gets dry I put hair mayonaise and a raw egg on it and I put a shower cap on and keep it on over night. I get the hair mayonaise at CVS pharmacy |

Kerastase Conditioner is THE BEST conditioner in the world. I don't have curly hair, but they have forumlas for many different type and my hair was overproccessed from dying it, and this stuff saved my hair :) I always got it at my salon GrettaCole when I lived in Boston.. but I know you can get it online as well :) |
so many suggestions! YIKES thanks everyone! OK, so I broke down and I just cut 3 inches off my length and it feels so soft and bouncey. I am going to try and take better care of it, i hate to have dry hair but I also have to color it too and I know that is my main problem...but too much grey is starting to come out:eek:  |
JOICO's K-PAK Systems are awsome! They work wonderfully! I love the Deep Conditioner! Its the best! Love the KPAK shampoo and conditioner! And the Smoothing Balm is great!!! Try those!!!! KPAK all the way! |

I'm have owned and operated a hair salon for 22 years, I tell my clients with long hair to: put conditioner on their wet hair BEFORE shampooing (you don't need to use near scalp)....then shampoo and condition as usual. Our hair only gets oily near our scalps....long hair gets dried out from washing often...so the condition before you shampoo works really well!! My clients have said it makes a big difference in the way their hair feels. Good luck! Also, if you have been swimming....it would also help to keep a small spray leave-in conditioner near the pool, to spritz in your hair before you swim. |
My hair used to be really frizzy and dry. Now I use Palmer's Olive Oil Formula. It has vitamin E and Extra Virgin Olive Oil for shiny hair. THen I have leave-in conditioner that I can put in when my hair is either wet or dry. It's called Infusium 23. It controls frizz - but I've found it also keeps my hair from drying out. and try not to blowdry your hair too much. It's much better for it to let it air dry. |
Do you use the spray on the one in the jar? Quote:

BIOSILK products are fantastic .... |
When I was much younger and wore my hair long, I was always told to rinse my hair (after shampoo and conditioner) with cold water. It supposedly closed up the hair shafts. Don't know if it is actually true, but I do know it worked. |
Is that a spray? Quote:
