Giant spider..big enough to carry off my Yorkies! 1 Attachment(s) Well, maybe it couldn't carry off the Yorkies, but it sure is a big spider! I looked up it's identity on the net, it's a "black and yellow garden spider". It's harmless unless you are a flying insect. I'm all for it eating all the insects it wants on our back deck! |
WHY? WHY must people post giant pictures of giant spiders on here and WHY oh WHY do I always open the thread and look???? That is just creepy! And what a close up shot! Ugh! My skin is crawling now! |
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK:eek: |
Wow, that's interesting! We took several pictures of this same type spider this week at Lake Buchanan, down by Austin and wondered what kind it was. Yeah, they are huge!! I would post more wonderful pictures for you people that "love" spiders, but they will have to be resized first. So sorry...hehe!! |
   You guys that live in the southern states seem to have "weird" big looking spyders. I know we certainly have our share up here, but  that one is gross. Did you kill it?:icon5: I would have had to. I wouldn't have wanted to take a chance on "that" thing getting into my house. |
My dad gets those on his porch everyyear, he will watch them for awhile. THey will "write" things in the web too. if you get too close and make them mad they will start swinging the entire web back and forth. stay there too long and they will jump off on you! lol... |

I don't like spiders much but that one is particularly pretty ............ for a spider, that is. |
I hate spiders. We have black widows and brown recluses around here, and I'm forever setting them, and their nests on fire. |
I dont like spiders but that is an interesting looking one |

Uggggggh! I hate spiders. |
We use to call those banana spiders when I was growing up....maybe because of the coloring....I have no clue. I remember catching several and taking them to show and tell at school....we always found a lot of them in the hay barn....they do get big! |

We've gotten those spiders, too! They build ungodly huge webs, don't they? |
my grandkids like to toss a small cricket in the web and watch it go to work:D |
I am deathly afraid of Spiders, yet I found myself looking? Why? That's just gross. Good thing it's outside, but if it were inside I would go to bed and tell my DH to find it and kill it when he comes home from work. He works night hours and usually comes home at 3:30 a.m. |
well before I swat them out of the web next time I'm going to look them up on the net like you did. Now I feel bad.....no need to destroy if they harmless....I agree let him do his job on the insects! |
1 Attachment(s) Ok that is GROSS and SCARY! I looked it up online, and it says the body of that thing can get up to 1-1/8" long! It can make webs up to 2' in diameter! Maybe it could catch a yorkie?! EWWW The closest thing I've seen like that is when I lived in Minneapolis...it's called a wolf spider...yuck yuck icky! Ok, and while I'm typing this, and looking at creepy spider pictures, Milli decided to jump up on the couch, and lean over and tickly my elbow with her beard, and I FREAKED! I jumped like 6 feet in the air and let out a "Eguguhgtgutuaahh!" Here's a pic of one I found online, for those of you that want to look: |
Tiffany, Beautiful picture, thanks for sharing. We have them up here also. She should make her egg sack soon, it might be on a nearby bush. |
That looks like the one we have on our back deck. The web is almost like a zig zag zipper. I hate spiders indoors; can tolerate them outside. We have some doozies here in VA. |
I dont' hate spiders; other than the bad ones..and I don't like them making spiderwebs all over, but that one LOOKS kinda scary to me! Nowhere nearly as creepy as the cane spiders my dad has in Hawaii though (which I will not post a picture of out of respect for all those who hate spideys). |
  I hate spiders so much I kill them even if they are outside. I didn't give it permission to be on my property, so out comes the bug spray. If one happens to get inside, I have to get it before Emmy does. Anyone else get scorpions? |
We have wolf spiders here. I hear they are worse every couple of years. One year I had 2 attatched to my house. The webs are enormous and so are they. I get shivers just thinking about it!!!! ewwwwwwww:( |
About 8 weeks ago we moved into the new house. I was laying on my bed for the first time....covered with a blanket. I had been there for aobut 45 minutes when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was a scorpion. I SCREAMED for Richard to come get it. Talk about freaking out:eek: We haven't seen any others and he has bug bombed the whole house, including the attics. We haven't seen anymore. |
I am going to show this to BF he will flip. He hates spiders. |
