I had a problem with those last year and did some research on them. I think they are called golden orb weavers or something like that. Where there is one, there is many more. The zigzag in the middle of the web is an easy way to identify them. Those things are huge and spin giant webs! Get an exterminator. They aren't poisonous, but they do have one heck of a painful bite and will if you accidently get in their web!

HAHAHAHA!!!!!! I was THINKING the EXACT same thing!!!! Lots of spider threads lately and I ALWAYS look... (my fault) and I always get the creepy crawlies and goose bumps and all that good stuff! I HATE spiders!!! :D

I would LOVE to see a scorpion!! Those I wouldnt mind in my house (if they got in), but I live in NH so we dont get them. I go visit my mom in New Mexico and look for them under rocks! and in Las Vegas I did too. I want to see a real one close up! HAHA I have a tattoo of one also! I keep saying IM going to buy one, but i really dont want one IN my house all the time... i just want to see one in the desert when I go out there! LOL

We get these garden spiders in New England also. They are HUGE! I havent seen one in years, but I heard they are totally harmless. I dont want to EVER touch one or anything though! If one was in my house id freak! We get wood spiders that can get a pretty good size... and my dogs like to kill them outside and then bring them in and drop them at my feet all dead and curled up, then they proceed to eat them if Im not fast enough to stop them! :eek: I dont let them kiss me for DAYS after I see that! sooooooo GROSS!!!

ICK!!! In my opinion, the only good spider is a dead spider. I can kill the other insects myself, thankyou! You're brave for getting close enough to get a picture. I just HATE spiders, harmless or not!

OMG!!!! EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!! That's just horrid! i have got goosebumps looking at that! :eek:

I'm so glad i live in the UK!! mind you...some of our house spiders can get quite big! lol

lol...The moment I saw both of these spiders I was on the phone with my exterminator and they came right out and took care of both of them. People might say they are harmless....NOT TO ME!!! I HATE spiders!!! I only took pictures of these because I knew no one would believe how big they were!!!! Did I say, I hate spiders? lol

I think that brown one is what is called a wood spider. They are the ones my dogs find and eat all the time :( soooo gross!

SAME HERE! I did the exact same thing. No pictures could do justice about how big those things are!

The one in the water is the same kind that we had in our pool. This one had hundreds of little baby spiders on her back. We threw her over the fence and they scattered. My husband won't kill them, even though his entire summer was ruined by a spider bite. hate 'em.

I do believe we have the same kind of spider! Someone else mentioned an Orb weaver...I saw it described as that too. Yes, I know they can bite, but I don't plan on getting that close. So far she's just eating lots of insects. We sure aren't seeing flies around the house anymore...not a one!

oh my gosh!! that is SOO creepy!!

I have the biggest fear of spiders! One time my mom thought someone was killing me because I walked into a spider web outside and I screamed REALLY loudly. :D

You know those nasty brown house spiders? One time I spent the night in the bathroom because I saw one crawling on my lamp.

Yep! I think we need a warning first! It's just not fair!

On the other hand, I'm sooo glad I live over here where there isn't spiders like THAT!
