i had mine out a few years ago.. HONESTLY wasn't bad at alll!! i think the nerves i had the day of were the worst part. The iv was FINE, which is a surprise considering i HATE needles... the only part of me that they restrained before i was in the "twilight zone" was the arm with the iv in it.... and before i knew it i was waking up in recovery!! the pain wasn't horrible either.. they give you great drugs to help with that! i got to eat TONS of ice cream and alll that good stuff.. just remember, nothing from a straw! i had a friend who didn' listen to that and had an ifection, she had to have tubes put in her gums to train them... that looked attractive :p it will honeslty be FINE :) good luck!!! |

Ok if you can get over your tattoo Saturday you can handle your teeth ;) I had all 4 of mine pulled at the same shot. First day i didnt want to be bothered at all. Keep ice on the sides of your mouth and pop 2 ib-profern(sp) every 4 hours and you'll be fine. Thats what i did and I didnt have any bruising and was fine the next day. |
Thanks guys! makes me feel batter about it! Look at me.....its still a month away!!!!!!! |
This is my Wisdom Teeth story. My senior year of high school I had..... My tonsils removed, Mono, and all four wisdom teeth extracted - two were impacted and were a bit more complicated. I walked into the oral surgeon's office, they gave me funny juice and then a shot to knock me out. I woke up wisdom toothless and walked out came home and took it easy that afternoon. The next day I was back to normal and had a Whopper from BurgerKing and fries for lunch. -- true story..... You will do fine, try not to stress out..... Sending hugs :ghug: |
When i had mine done, many yrs ago:rolleyes: they did it in twos, first the bottom 2 then went back a month later for the top 2, I couldnt have them done all at once, so that kinda sucked, Im a bleeder as they call it so they wouldnt do them all at 1 time, It didnt hurt though, i was high for 2 days:eek: from the pain med, just make sure they give you lots:D good luck to you we will all be thinking of you;) |

hmmm I don't recall ever being restrained or IV'd to have my wisdom teeth out. I think you all are nuts or have wacky dentists. :p I had all of mine out while my ex was in the military. The first one started bothering me, I couldn't eat or sleep. I went in and they said yep it's your wisdom tooth and you need to make an apt for a consultation re the pros and cons of having it removed and we are booked out 3 weeks!!! I left in tears, I couldn't eat or sleep and I had to wait 3 weeks!! You've got to be nuts. I went back the next day on emergency walk in. Within 10 minutes I was numb, my tooth yanked and left with meds. It just popped right out. I couldn't believe they just didn't do that the first day. The other 3 I had removed all at the same time. Piece of cake, they all just popped right out and by that evening I was great. We even went out. You'll be fine. :D |
OK, I am so afraid of the dentist that they have to give me gas to have my teeth cleaned:D No, I'm not kidding. Have them give you a little gas first and then you won't care anything about the IV....insist...they will do it. Then after you wake up from the "whacky juice" you will feel great. As for the tattoo.....hell yes they hurt, but after it's done, it's ok. My daughter suggests drinking first;) Patty |
Hi Brenda - I had mine out (but only two on the same side) when I was 23. I wasn't put out though and I had myself so worked up about it that my mouth wouldn't numb!! It wasn't as bad afterwards as I was thinking it would be. Ice, ice and more ice (applied by ice pack or frozen peas) to the jaws as much as you can handle during the first couple days will make a huge difference. Don't expect to eat anything that requires chewing for a few days. Now is the time to indulge in ice cream shakes!!!! |
Brenda, first the tattoo and now 4 teeth ??? Maybe  you can arrange for the tattoo while you're out for the oral surgery!! Don't worry, :hands: I'll pray. jeanie |
i freak out so bad at the dentist they prescribe me valuums to relax me on the day of the procedures. lol now thats bad! i had a root canal and it wasnt as bad as i thought but i have never had a tooth pulled and since my wisdom teeth have came in ive been soo worried! |
Oh it's not that bad. The IV isn't bad at all...they are pretty small needles. Just a little initial tingly prick, but then you don't even feel it...for the whole 5seconds after that you are awake.:p They really didn't hurt that bad afterwards either...you just have to eat and chew REALLY slowly. Just don't wait until they actually start your anesthesia and ask if you can keep your teeth. :embarasse When I finally had my senses about me later that night, my dad came in and was like, "Oh yeah, here's your teeth!" |
