Swimming with sea turtles 4 Attachment(s) We were having a great time in Hawaii, but it went off the charts awesome the last few days when we ran into some sea turtles while snorkeling off Maui. These pictures were taken with one of those throwaway underwater cameras and don't begin to capture the experience. Incredible. A couple swam right up to me. |

It doesn't get much better than that - except maybe to be "baptized" with your head looking through a snorkle at a whale underneath your boat!!!!!! |

Oh wow!! Awesome. You are so fortunate for the experience. I am so terrified of water that I can't go under, freaks me out and I panic but I sure would have loved to experience that. |

OH how cool Mike...brought back such good memories for me....I went to Hawaii about a year ago (my sister lies there) and did a turtle dive where we swam with tons of them. They are sooooo cool up close. Also did a shark dive too :eek: - SCARY...totally another story - ha, ha!! :p :p |

Those are great photos! It's so amazing to swim with the turtles there, isn't it? I swam with a bunch off the Big Island in Kealakekua and the City of Refuge, and the manta rays in the same area......it's awesome! Welcome back! |

cool photos...we were there last week too! Was that at Molokini? The waves and wind were outrageous then. So much so we couldn't snorkel in turtle island even though we went out there. |

Those are great great pics!! Sea turtles are such a beautiful animal especially if you consider how rare they are. I got to be on "turtle patrol" last year and help baby ones get into the water, and the guy I went with said they estimate every 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 10,000 of the babies will survive to adulthood (I think I got that right...) Anyway, they're beautiful, and GREAT pics :) |

The best day was in a cove off our hotel at Napili Shores. I had three turtles swimming all around me. They are docile yet fearless of people. i was trying to keep my distance because they are protected, but a couple swam right up to me to check me out. LuvMyPrinceKobi, that's so cool you got to work with them. Yeah, we were told they are just now starting to make a comeback. I was very impressed at how many we saw. Even when not swimming, we'd see them popping their little heads up to breathe off shore. Amazing. |
