WARNING -- Not for the squeamish God bless those people for what they did. Unfortunately, after the experience they've had, some of those cats will have to be euthanized. They will likely never be suitable for adoption. :( I sure hope I'm wrong. A couple years ago I saw a video and pictures of live DOGS in a Korean market. Dozens if not hundreds of dogs, mostly small ones jammed into wire cages. Dog meat in Korea, apparently like cat meat in China, is a delicacy. And the preferred prep method: {{STOP READING NOW IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH}} They use a blow torch and cook them ALIVE.   Apparently the fear and pain create adrenalin and other body chems that tenderize and "sweeten" the meat. I still have nightmares over this one. This is the kind of crap that has to be STOPPED. We don't even inflict this kind of cruelty on vicious murderers and child molesters. |
When we were in China 3 1/2 years ago, for the adoption of our daughter, we saw dogs along the road for sale. We knew what they were selling them for. One day we were traveling on a bus and another bus pulled up beside us and in that bus was a woman holding a bag with a "live" chicken in it, all you could see of the chicken was the head & it was looking around. When we asked our facilitator about it she said "We like our food fresh.:2omg: " We also visited a Wal-mart while we were there & some of the animals in the food departments were quite unusual and thankfully we will never see that here at home. I can safely say all the food we ate was fantastic & it is NOT anything like the Chinese food we eat her. I am very glad to hear that there are becoming more animal advocates in China. Desiree:) |

Where I live several years ago they found cat carcasses in the dumpster behind a chinese restaurant and it was shut down. I don't know any details but I only eat shrimp fried rice becasue I know its actually shrimp. I have eaten beef before from a couple chinese restaurants but it is always in the back of my mind. I felt sick after I ate it. So only shrimp and rice for me. |

anyways thats not what this thread is about its about these poor animals that are getting killed |
Please remember everyone that this only happens in SOME areas in China.. not all of China... This article makes it seem like ALL Chinese people love eating cats and dogs when in reality it is not true.. my parents travel to China for business all the time and they have never come across a menu that sold dog, cat, or rat meat.. |

Between being a food source and then the disgusting fur trade there's alot of horrible things going on. I don't think all Chinese (and their culture) should be lumped in with the terrible actions of those who seen nothing wrong with it - I LOVE Chinese food - I could eat it everyday - but IF I were ever in China - I would probably have to find a Mickey D's.:( :( :( |
