That's a great idea to put one of his toys in his sporty new car seat. It has pockets on the side so you can store all kinds of things...his leash, toys, treats, water bowl etc.

I'm taking Zack out for a neighborhood drive everyday so he can really get use to his car seat. He loves it so far. He's small enough (4.5 lbs) so he can curl up in it for a nap.

Am I a crazy mom or what?

I took Maggie out for a ride this morning too. But then one of the stops was to the vet. She got her rabies, 1st kennel cough vac, and nails clipped. She is a whopping 3.14lbs. now. Didn't want her to think that our trip to town was for doctor only, so we made a few more rounds. Each time we headed for the next destination, she would sit still in her carseat while I hooked the safety clip. She would watch out the window every stop and turn. When we stopped at the next visit, she would sit still while I unhooked her. I just love the carseat. I can't imagine trying to drive with a wiggle worm without one.

Zack is a wiggle worm too...LOL

I noticed while he was in his car seat he would try to climb out so he could be with me. I would gently push him back in and give him a treat each time. Maybe I should tighten up the safety strap some?

I'll try to get a photo of him in his car seat and post it.

For sure shorten the safety lead. If too long, he could jump out and really hurt himself. Make the safety lead just long enough for them to stand, sit, lay down and put their paws on the edge of the carseat. You might want to consider putting the carseat in the backseat. I'm not quite sure about your carseat, but Maggie's says if you have passsenger Air Bags, then place carseat in backseat. I purchased a Child Watch Mirror that clips on my visor, so I can check on her without turning around. The brand name on hers is Outward Hound. It's black with black mesh sides. It has a black mesh pocket on the side and a zipper pocket at the front of the carseat.

Thanks for the advice...I'll put him in the backseat and shorten the safety strap. I have the same exact car seat as you. And it's black too! :)
